It took me way too long to realize why you chose Deb to be the one to tell, but I've been saying, since your mother showed up, that your friends really do have your back. Why are you confiding in them? Is there something else going on that I don't know? I totally get not telling Peyton immediately when she called with the good news of her and Lucas being engaged, but afterwords, not so much.
I also feel like an idiot for not realizing sooner what was going to happen to Q. I've watched a lot of TV. I should know that when they are building up a character as much they did with him, something devastating was bound to happen. And of course, I spent half the episode talking about how much Q had grown on me, and how much he'd matured since he showed up. Sigh.
Truly, I have no idea who I'm rooting for in the battle of Carrie vs Dan. I mean, they are both awful, horrible people. I assume Dan is going to win, because a) he's a main character on the show and b) we've proven time and time again that this man will not die. But I have no idea exactly how he's getting out of this. And I'm still petrified every time Jamie is alone or Haley and Nathan talk about going somewhere. I really think I'd rather Dan kidnap him, than Carrie. Is that crazy?
Also, I love the conversation between Haley and Nathan about the pills. She expressed concern (which is natural based on who his mother is, and his previous state of heavy drinking), he immediately explained the situation and assured her he was fine. She then asked to take a trip to the doctor, and Nathan complied because he didn't want her to be worried. It's such a simple scene. But it was so unexpected. In TV, usually we'd have Nathan fighting about this. He'd be upset that Haley didn't trust him to look after himself, or mad that she thought he could do something like this. Nope. Just, I see you're concerned, let's fix that. The two of them have worked so hard to get back to this place, and I love to see it.
Bonus: if you stick around to just before the discussion, you get a really good shot of how truly awful the back of my hair is. π€£

Love this episode for Naley. The Brooke stuff sets up a pretty heavy and compelling story arc for her. The Dan/Carrie stuff continues to get more and more interesting and compelling, and the Deb/Skills stuff is supposed to be the levity needed right now among all the other stuff, but the NHJ and the Q stuff hits all the feels, hehe. I just love seeing Naley so happy and in love with their family unit intact. Q working with Nathan and giving Jamie that treasure box, and then telling Haley that he wanted to get married and have a family someday, is such a gut punch by the time we get to the end of the episode, but it's such a brilliant turnaround from where his character first started and was introduced. Then we had the cute Nathan/Jamie scene at home with Jamie stretching Nathan's back while walking all over him, lol, and then enter Haley, hehe. Jamie wanting to make Q a cape, and then the Haley/Deb scene when Haley was looking for her scissors was priceless.... she's been having sex, lol, never gets old. And then Haley and Deb confronting Nathan about the pills, and her admitting again to have been having sex as the reason she's always out and tired, is hilarious. Nathan's reaction never gets old, lol. It leads to a really great conversation and scene between Naley at the doctor's and at the rivercourt and that scene is iconic. Them reminiscing about the first game that Haley watched Nathan play when she sat with Keith wearing that goofy hat, lol, and that Nathan played it for her and told her that all of his 35 points were a Haley James pickup line,,,,swoon worthy right there, hehe. Haley saying that it worked, and Nathan saying that he loves being a husband and father more than playing basketball....is couple goals for sure. One of my favorite Naley scenes. Not to mention they both looked so stunning together in that scene. It's inspiring watching that scene now in 6x02, as opposed to where they were last season in 5x02. How far they've come, as a couple, and as a family unit. And Nathan telling Q at the end that he has a hot wife and an amazing son waiting for him at home, is just the icing on the cake. We'll miss you Q :(

I agree!! Quentin's death is so devastating. Also because Q was so young. Keith had a longer and fuller life. To see Q, who was getting his life together and had so much potential in all areas of his life and to die in that way... it breaks my heart π

I'm only like 18 minutes into this reaction so maybe you also brought this up... I think that Brooke also called Deb because Deb was in an abusive marriage. What Brooke had to go through and what Deb had to go through were pretty different but Deb still knows what it's like to overcome something horrible and be a boss ass bitch. Both are/were victims of abuse but just very different versions. Also I think that Deb and Brooke may know each other better than what we've seen in the show. Brooke and Nathan have been friends to one extent or another way before the show started. They grew up together in similar social circles. I think of how the parents of my friends growing up were like second parents of mine. It was probably somewhat similar.

Honestly Q's death is more devastating to me than Keith's. I liked Keith but ddin't get attached. I was so attached to Quentin and what an amazing person he was turning into. The next episode makes me sob every time
