I love so much, the fact that Brooke is still in therapy. I mean, they all need it, but at least someone is getting help. And speaking of Brooke, she's totally gonna end up fostering that shoplifting girl, isn't she? And she's gonna start a new business with Milly?!? Did I understand that correctly? I would love that for them!
And everyone's heart for Nathan. It certainly couldn't have just been me. I didn't know what it was gonna be, but you knew something was going to crash after how much we'd built it up. I thought it would be something stupid like, you can't wear your wedding ring and play, or you'll have to play for no money; something like that. I did not expect that it wouldn't be playing at all. Ugh. I swear, I hurt with him in that moment. Also, you have no idea how hard he's been working. You shouldn't just say he's over without watching him play.
So, I guess Carrie's plan really did suck after all. I guess Dan's gotta right occasionally. I have no idea where we go from here, and as much as it pains me, I've got to give Dan some credit. I mean, he's not yet redeemed, but saving Jamie's life certainly moves his needle in the right direction. Why the hell did Haley do this alone?!? I know Nathan and Luke were both away, but she could have taken Skills. Or, literally, anyone!
Also, I'm guessing this means that Lindsey isn't pregnant. I thought that was the thing that 'Lucas doesn't know yet,' but she's at a bar drinking so I guess it's not that. I'm hoping whatever it is doesn't come out at the wedding (which seems soon).

Dan has the best line ever in this episode.... after he shoots Carrie, he immediately mumbles "God I hate the woods", lol. It never gets old all these years later, hehe. But Deb, Dan, and even little Jamie were all the MVP's of this episode. If you ever needed a reminder of just how fabulous The Scott Family is, and how much they will all rally together in support of each other to save and protect their family...then this is it. And as sad as it is to watch Nathan feel dejected over Bobby wanting him to coach instead of play, only means that he'll just have to work harder for his dream. It's not supposed to be easy, nothing worthwhile ever is, and it's a really great story and journey for Nathan. Plus, the little family moment between NHJ in the kitchen, absolutely melts my heart. Jamie plus Haley being Nathan's biggest cheerleaders is the best!!! Lindsey continues to be such a well written character, and gosh does she always rise above it all. She's got so much class an integrity......Lucas could learn a thing or two from her, lol. Have I mentioned it a time or two how much I love her and loathe the way they write for Lucas when it comes to his romantic entanglements. And I wish that Peyton's story with Mick would have played out differently. Part of the reason why most of her family drama misses the beat is because they are all isolated story arcs that don't move her character forward, and they don't impact anybody else, so you really find yourself questioning what was the point? I also love that Brooke is still in therapy...it's so important for her no doubt, and her journey to trying to move forward and make peace with things is outstanding. Also love what a good friend Millie is to her and how much she supports Brooke. It's great to watch.

I agree. With Victoria we hear so much about her prior to S5 that you almost feel like you already know her. I liked Haley's parents because they brought such a different energy to the show compared to the other parents. They were also so hilarious so their scenes were really fun. I do wish we had seen more of them though. With Dan, Deb, and Karen at least they are present for better or worse (for worse when it comes to Dan lol). The writing with Dan, Deb, and Karen were very good... they really fleshed those characters out.

Ooh, that's a good point. I remember spending a lot of time wondering what Brooke's parents were doing and where they were. So when we finally got some Victoria, I was already invested and I really cared. It was really nice to see Larry and Peyton together. You could tell she just loved having him home, but he was always only home for a few days at a time. With the exception of Karen, there really wasn't a lot of good parenting on this show.

I really have some sort of mental block about it. I don't know what it is. I like Peyton as a character. You'd think I'd want her to enjoy her family. What's up with me?

We've known since season 3 that she was adopted, so the show had to focus on her biological parents somehow. Here with Mike, I don't think we should feel particularly bad at this stage. He is a new character and I'm simply curious to find out more because I like Peyton and I'm wondering how she's going to deal with this. But, as someone said in the comments, it would certainly be better at first if we had a better buildup. However, her previous family storylines were still very good to me. Ellie's storyline was very moving and Derek's was both traumatic and healing.

you can't mess with grandma Deb and grandpa Dan, they will protect Jamie in the craziest ways :D

I agree about Peyton's family storylines. Some are better than others. I always liked the plot with Peyton and her real half brother and even the plot with Ellie became very moving at the end but I think the reason I ultimately don't care so much about the plots is that they kinda sneak up on the audience. Like with Ellie she appears out of the blue in one episode like "I'm your mother" with practically no buildup. It makes for a fun plot twist but your not really yearning for her to meet her real mother because you didn't know that her dead mother wasn't her biological mother. We knew she had a biological father out there but there never was really a moment where Peyton mentioned how she wanted to meet her father. It wasn't really something that Peyton was yearning for. Same with her brother. It's just thrown on us one episode that Peyton has a half brother which is fine and all but then so much of their plot was centered around Psycho Derek which I didn't really love. With Peyton's adopted mother, we never met her. We never saw any flashbacks of her... so I don't feel a huge kinship to her. Of course I feel sympathy for Peyton but I feel like if we had gotten flashbacks then I would feel so much more. And her adopted dad, as nice a guy as he was, was a pretty shitty father and very absent. My favorite version of her father was the one played by Kevin Kilner in season 3 cause we got the most of him and that actor brought a lot of warmth but also a strong fatherly vibe. I just wish we had seen more of him.
