/Ayato x Aether/ Contract marriage + ABO AU

Aether and Ayato were engaged since they were young, however they didn't see each other much and had to separate to study and develop themselves before marriage. When they meet again 16 years later, how will they face each other? (I mean how will they fuck each other because the content I draw will be all fucking hahaha).
I'm not very good at English, is there any word in English that means marriage between 2 rich families to increase prosperity and power? If you know, please teach me.

I looked up a little more, so to be betrothed is the verb. However as a noun, Betrothed is the person to whom one is engaged. If you are telling the story from Ayato’s perspective then Aether is Ayato’s Betrothed. If you are telling the story from Aether’s perspective then Ayato is Aether’s betrothed. That parts ok to not be too strict about though! Even I as a native English Speaker didn’t know the difference until I looked it up lol.

Hi Pcrow! The English word you might be looking for is “Betrothed” which is a older word that refers to when two people are arranged to be married. It has a royalty / aristocratic connotation to it. However betrothed is before the wedding. It would be used similarly to how the word engaged or fiancé is today. Example: Ayato and Aether were betrothed to each other 16 years ago. As for after the wedding, I don’t think there is a particular word beyond Marriage that denotes that specific context. SUPER EXCITED FOR THIS OMG

Whilst the other options people said are more accurate to what you requested, if you did want another phrase you could also say that it's a "marriage of convenience" which usually means marriage for any reasons other than love.

Arranged marriage or political marriage (both make sense in this context). Contractual marriage also works but is more a marriage with ‘rules’, which are defined before the marriage. 🫶
