lol I love Christi's optimism! I wouldn't say this is where the show starts getting dark - there's still plenty of comedy to be had - but it does get a lot more serialized, and there ARE stakes unlike some other shows where you know the main characters are always going to get out of a situation.

Next episode is the mid season finale. After that is when people say the show started getting "good". I always thought the show was good, but i do agree the second half is a lot better than the first.
