Bri you are correct, that is the same mage that Yen stole her position from. The council voted that Fringilla would thrive in Aedirn more than Yen and after Yen's entrance, she stole Frin's position and was forced to Nilfgaard. So the arugment could be made that if Yen had went to Nilfgaard, none of the horrible crap Nilfgaard caused would've happened.

Timeline: It doesn't help that Jaskier is supposed to be 40, by this point & although they discuss time passed, they didn't use make-up/effects to show it.
