This is the third collection of our lore deep dives covering AOTC. We've decided to split work between narrative and technical sections.

There's almost certainly a relationship as far as inspiration is concerned. As for lore, the New Essential Guide to Alien Species suggests the Clawdites might not have existed in 4000 BBY.

There very likely is, as KOTOR II had a pretty short development time frame the devs took inspiration from a lot of "old" LucasFilm art work/concept art as to make designing things like armor easier and faster by already taking heavy inspiration from the existing designs.
