I was once taught by an old school mechanic friend to use two long (~8ft+) straight things to set toe - he laid them on the floor, against/parallel to the front wheels and measured the gap between the two with a tape measure. We got it close enough as my tyres are still happy and the car doesn't try to throw me into ditches ;) Thanks for the vid!

I think I will do this same process with the foden. The camber is not adjustable, but I know I need to check the toe angle. I have adjusted it several times, this process will be better than what I have been doing. The back axle needs checking too, since it moves around when adjusting the chain tension. Thanks for the video, some great, easy to DIY ideas.

Aging Wheels

While I have got some use our of that little lathe and made some useful parts, it's pretty crap. The biggest problem is a pretty big lack of rigidity. The motor is also torque less at slow speeds. If I did it over again, I'd start with a proper sized used lathe. That'll be $1000-$2000 just to start out unfortunately. Like Eric said, it's pretty expensive to get into. It doesn't seem to be like woodworking where you can get started with a drill, circular saw, and a can do attitude

I got into metal working soley from watching youtube. Had no experience with it, started watching various machinist youtubers, and then bought a mini lathe and mill. It's an amazing skill to learn, but it is fairly expensive. Check out Abom79, Oxtoolco and This Old Tony on youtube.

Here's a protip that I learned from Adam Savage: When you get hot glue on your skin, you can avoid a burn by quickly rubbing the glue to spread it out. That distributes the heat over a larger surface area, and the heat won't be concentrated on one part of your skin.

Neat to see the mini-lathe in operation. I'm hoping for an eventual video on it-- metal working is something I'm interested in and know little about. Especially theoretical-precision stuff like that. Also, I use the crap out of my wireless hot glue gun.
