I couldn't pass up the opportunity to try out a hydrogen fuel cell powered car! The problem with this car and the technology that powers it is there aren't enough benefits to outweigh the downsides (for most people). Regardless, I'm still excited about the technology and hopeful it makes its way into more appropriate and useful scenarios. I also hope the price of hydrogen comes down because dang.

That's exactly why I don't want to dismiss fuel cells in passenger cars entirely. It's still much better than combustion in situations like that. Relying on 100% rapid charging would be horrific

The majority of Mirai's I've seen in the UK are in london running as taxis. The reason is the number of places you can't charge at home coupled with the zero emissions advantages for a taxi driver. I have that issue - I can't charge at home, the only charger I could use for the miles I do is 20 miles away, I dread to think what rapid charging 2 or 3 times a week would do to the battery, and currently rapid chargers here are £0.79 a unit, or $1 a kWh.
