Slow progress & what to expect
🕑 Added 2023-04-28 16:00:05 +0000 UTCHola! Hope u guys are doing well!
I'm still pausing Patreon cos right now my post-burnout brain can only make comics when there is no stifling deadline.
I wasn't expecting MD to take longer than a year to complete when I started drawing in 2017. In 2019, I just wanna finish this simple story asap, so I worked on it non-stop anytime I can until 2 AM. Then life and everything crashed and burned during covid.
Ha ha... (⁀ᗢ⁀;)
Depending on the severity, burnout for an artist/writer can be like a runner breaking a leg. The likelihood of being able to run at the same speed as a pre-broken leg is slim to none. It's best for that runner to never have broken the leg to begin with.
Now I just draw a few panels in the morning and I won't touch the comic at night or weekends. On Monday morning, I'm excited to get up at 5 AM, turn on my spotify playlist and the scenes just flow out of my head smoothly.
Not much is accomplished with only a few hours in the morning, but I never ever wanna catch burnout ever again.
I hope you understand. <(_ _*)>
What to expect from now on:
I won't have any new chapters for a while. I'm building a buffer so when I start posting again, it will be consistent updates cos MD is better binged.
I've drawn 198 unedited, black and white panels so far.
I'll let u know a month ahead before I run Patreon again, no ETA atm.
I need your help to pay my assistants etc, but if this is too slow for you, I understand if you have moved on.
I prefer to be honest with you so u guys know what to expect :-)
Reminisce on the plague & setbacks:
Even tho the past few years were mostly disasters for me, it turns out everything unfolds for the better. I couldn't see it between 2019-2022, but my misfortunes made me value different things in life and now I'm grateful for it.
I devoured so many well-written novels that saved my sanity during covid. Those books cured my burnout and made me love storytelling more than when I just started MD back in 2017. I realized that wanting to complete this comic within a year was utterly delusional lol…
(⁀ᗢ⁀;)
Anyway, if you still plan on reading MD, I don't know how to thank you. I am working on it and I’m excited to share it with you when it's ready. I don't serve a half cooked meal from my kitchen.
As my mental bandwidth frees up, you'll start seeing me more communicative and happy to post stuff online.
Thank you for reading all the way down here!
I will keep you posted with more progress!
