🕑 Added 2021-02-02 04:45:03 +0000 UTCMost Family compounds are ancient, and extend deep underground. It takes a lot to keep a Family running, and the innumerable cellars, tunnels, crawlspaces, and shafts are filled with generations of mechanical detritus.
Family service areas aren't an eldritch mess like the ruins, but a more "conventional" mess. Old cranky machines up next to newer ones, pipes that go nowhere, diagrams that are missing, incomplete, or completely wrong, equipment that was ostensibly disconnected by by god don't touch it or the family's hot water won't work for a week.
The brave lizards who keep the machinery of Family running are experts in the art knowing what the fuck is going on in there, and are indespensible experts. Thanks, Lizards.
