Boyz N The Hood is the quintessential hood classic. Rewatching this movie as an adult i’ve come to the realization that Ricky wasn’t smart due to him being coddled by mother. The only thing he had going for himself was football & he didn’t have any real plans for himself & his family. His mom’s favoritism towards him did more damage to Doughboy than the hood ever did. Doughboy deserved better. Even though he was painted as the black sheep of the family he was a good big brother. No matter how much him & Ricky fought he always had Ricky’s back. Plus he was street smart. He was always reading, aware of his surroundings & street smart. Fun fact: Little Ricky was played by Dovonan McCrary, he’s the brother of Darius McCrary (Eddie Winslow from Family Matters).

There’s this deleted scene from the movie on Youtube which helps understand why Reva was so against Furious being okay with Tre moving in with Brandy. She basically didn’t want him to end up like they did. With having a child too early. & The second part of the conversation she felt slighted as Furious tried to dismiss her actions of being a mother.
