Snipers are here!
🕑 Added 2025-04-28 04:27:39 +0000 UTCIntroducing the MR42, inspired by the Remington M700 and the Swedish M/41B (and keeping the classic name). We had several challenges to tackle:
Build a system for modders to easily create new turn-bolt snipers, with or without a magazine
Develop a high-performance scope that's comfortable to use and runs smoothly on Quest
Create a physics-based bolt action that feels great in VR
The result: We now have a full system to build great new snipers with ease, and a fully physics-driven bolt lever. You can open the bolt by hand, by hitting it with an object, or even by punching it. It has just the right amount of resistance to make it feel powerful and satisfying. In VR, it really gives you the sense of loading a true, heavy-hitting weapon. 
The scope is also fully optimized for Quest, designed to feel comfortable and natural to use. Right now, attachments aren't supported yet, but in the future, you'll be able to remove and swap them freely. I uploaded two videos:
One recorded with the spectator camera, offering a wider and smoother view, closer to what I experienced inside the headset, though not perfectly eye-aligned.
One recorded directly from the Quest view (Still PCVR but direct render from Quest), where my eye is aligned with the scope (lower FOV but better view through the optic). I'll add that video in a second post.

These rifles look so fun to use! Can't wait to see them in my hands when the game drops! Couple of things to point out. For the R700: - The bolt plug (the small black stub at the end of the bolt) doesn't move at all. It should be inward when the bolt is fired, and should come out as it currently is, when it is ready to fire. For the M/41B: - The safety (the little flap on top of the bolt) and firing pin (the numbered part on the end of the bolt) move as the bolt is rotated to cycle the weapon, this shouldn't happen as they are stationary. As the bolt moves, the safety and firing pin do not rotate with it. - Much like the R700, the firing pin (the numbered part on the end of the bolt) doesn't come back as you cycle the weapon. As the weapon is cycled, the firing pin is cocked. When the bolt is returned forward, the firing pin should protrude out like how the bolt plug on the R700 currently does. It's a visual indicator that the rifle is ready to fire. - The scope issued with the rifle is not a red dot, but very similar to the Kar98K's reticle. It's a T shaped reticle. I can provide a picture of what the reticle looks like on Discord if you'd like. Other than that these are solid rifles! Solid stuff!
