I'm happy that staying in sumo after ozeki demotion has been normalized and almost expected in the last 10 years or so. From my understanding, going way back, Takakeisho would have been expected to retire if he lost ozeki despite his young age

Takakeisho won last September’s basho with 11 wins, that’s the only time I remember him getting 10 wins in the last year
