Fire Temple [30x50] - Journey to the Underdark Pt 2
🕑 Added 2023-08-01 05:07:47 +0000 UTCJourneying father into the depths of the earth, the party comes to a grand cavern. The scent of sulfur and molten rock stifles the air. As the heat beckons, the party winds down a crackling stone staircase cut into the rocky floor. Before them lies a bridge of stone pillars, leading the way to a fiery entrance. What can be found in the chamber ahead? An abandoned temple? The lair of some forgotten demon trapped in the bowels of the earth? Only one thing is certain: danger awaits.
This was a fun map with so many inspirations. I had originally thought of the a volcanic temple populated by fire giants. Then it became a bit more ominous as a classic abandoned hidden temple entrance. And then we came back to "Maybe there's a Balrog..."
At any rate, it fits right in as the next installment to the Journey to the Underdark series. After a few sessions of cavern crawling, why not stage an encounter or two at a new story locale. Or an epic escape from the zone beyond the doorway. The possibilities are endless.
