I think the alchemist's reaction when asked why it also works on carried items acts as confirmation that the rest of her "explanation" is *precisely* mystical archanobabble, intended to cover for her own ignorance. It's not quite at the level of "midichlorians", but she really would have done better to just say "It's magic."

And, after nearly a week of reading every spare minute, I have *caught up*! Which is a statement I have been dreading making since partway through Book 1. This is *so good*, and now I'm going to have to wait for each new chapter like the rest of you poor people. My hideously unfair advantage of time compression has worn off! Wow. Thank you *so much* for writing this! I've already gotten one of my partners bingeing it, and I'm hopeful about at least one of the others. It's just -- yeah. I want this world to be true. A few quick questions: do you value feedback on typos? If so, what's the most useful way to provide said feedback? Also, if so, is such feedback useful on older chapters, or only on recent/current ones? Thanks!

‘Mumble mumble “stabilized gas” mumble mumble’ is a weird choice for technobabble explanation of the incorporeality potion - it’s immediately implausible. People who’ve taken the potion are able to pass through solid objects, which gas isn’t able to. It’d make a lot more sense and solve the clothes problem if the mech framework of ‘what one perceived as themself’ simply only interacted with ‘what one does not perceive as themself’ when intentionality was present, or possibly didn’t interact when intentionality of not interacting was present. I’m not really sure why this one has to have an explanation anyway, given that no other magic powers really have explanations for their functions.
