Hey my first guess is that maybe you're model is hi-poly? The subdivision level in the displacement essentially subdivides the polygons before applying the displacement, so if you have a hi-poly model it'll just be too subdivided. The good thing is that the higher poly your model is, the lower you need the subdivision level in the displacement to be.

I have 4x 2080 TI and bringing the subdivision level to 5 crashes C4D almost every time: how do you do it? o_O
