Time For More? I Think So!
🕑 Added 2020-11-25 22:52:56 +0000 UTCI must confess, when I first started this Patreon it was at the behest of a few people, and mostly as a simple way to distribute to them. I never expected things to grow and take off like it has. Almost 300 people in less than a year is about 225 more than I envisioned. Not that I'm a pessimist...I was just working full time when I started this project and never really sought out to be a content creator (I'm do NOT have the voice for video and such).
Nevertheless, the support has been amazing and things have grown to a point where I am considering taking the risk and doing this full time. And now that COVID officially killed my job, I happened to have the time (a blessing and a curse, as it were).
What does this mean for you? Well...more stuff! Now, I do know a lot of you are only interested in the mountain assets, and that's fine (I will keep those coming in the $1 tier). But I have also received a lot of feedback from those who would be interested in more.
Some ideas:
- More tiers - Including custom tweaks/creations per request?
- Videos - tutorials and timelapse.
- Discord - Better communication, easier to support, and more "real-time"
- More asset categories - World map icons, roads, buildings, towns, misc stuff)
- A "sister" Patreon set up as Pay-Per-Creation - Full maps, lore, adventures, etc)
- New branding - This includes new logo, Patreon branding, headers, YouTube intros/style/etc.
- Possibly expanding to other platforms.
- More robust Patreon - Set goals, using other Patreon features, etc.
This also means more direct interaction with you all (mostly through Discord). It'll be much easier to share ideas, point out asset errors, offer help when ya'll have questions. I think 300 people is enough for a community!
What's the Timetable?
I plan to get started on all this...now. It will take some time to get all set up and and applied, but you'll start seeing changes today! I'm going to start with the new branding and Discord, then move to expanding the content and setting up other tiers over the next few weeks.
So once again, a big THANK YOU to all! If you have any ideas or suggestions on things you want to see, or feedback regarding growth, feel free to share (either here, or in the Discord once I get that set up).
