Dxd Vrmmo: Chapter 12
🕑 Added 2024-11-14 03:51:29 +0000 UTC"Alright, it's been an hour and a half since I logged out, I think I'll head back in and see what's changed." I yawn as I rise from the little table I was sat at. "What's our player count?"
"We are currently sitting at.... five thousand players."
"So, half of the people granted an Eden device are playing Domain of Magic right now? Interesting." I state as I slowly walk forwards and step into the pod. "I'll be back soon, Mittelt. Love ya, bitch."
"I-I-I-I love you too... fucker." She blushes as she looks away.
I slip my helmet on, then close the Eden's shell.
With another push of a button, I find myself losing consciousness.
When I wake up. I find myself back where I had logged off not to long ago.
I look around briefly, then tweak the setting yet again to set my mana capacity to a really big number.
With that, I disappear under invisibility magic.
'Let's see what has changed in the past hour and a half- technically six hours here, I suppose.'
Lady Destruction Murder {Lv 4}
Ruin Princess {Lv 4}
'oh? Level four?'
And they split up?
I teleport near the older one of the two's current location.
"Milim PUNCH!" I can hear the pinkette shout as she proceeds to deck a wolf in the face.
It is ingulfed in fire, being set alight by the ring of sparks.
Then, it seems to perish.
"That makes twenty!" The girl cheers, pumping her fists. "I should have enough money to buy something neat now!"
She turns on a dime, rushing back towards town.
Rias is... already back at town herself.
I teleport nearby to see her within the magic shop.
She seems to be thinking deeply on what to buy.
She isn't alone, of course, there are others here and there. She appears to be trying to decide between a flintlock and a ring.
Magical Flintlock: {Common}
A typical magical item that turns your mana into small condensed blasts of magical power. Must be cocked between each shot and the attack has a brief charge-up.
Base Damage: 80 (Scales with Magical Potency <Low>)
Mana Used per shot: 0.000000000000001%
Stat Requirements: Magical Potency 10, Agility 5
Cost: 50,000 Jewel
'ah. Right. The mana cost is calculated based on current mana... and I have hacked mana. For her it'd probably be about... twenty percent or so?'
The ring she is looking at, however? It's quite a bit cheaper in the mana cost, it'd probably only take around twelve percent? Maybe less? It depends, really.
Fiery Fastball: {Common}
A ring that grants your hand low {Fire} Resistance. But this is merely a side effect of its true ability, which allows you to conjure an orb of elemental energy, in this case, fire, and hurl it at foes like a baseball.
Base Damage: 30 (Scales with Magical Potency <Medium>)
Mana Used per shot: 0.0000000000000006%
Stat Requirements: Magical Potency 12
Cost: 45,000 Jewel
She decides on the magical flintlock, sitting a small bag of money and the coupon I had given her earlier on the table.
Fifty thousand Jewel really is only worth like five hundred dollars, so I mean, with the beta's times five currency multiplier, she was able to scrounge that up pretty quickly.
Also, that little 'scales with magical potency' thing is something that most magical items have. Weapons, on the other hand, have 'scales with strength' or 'scales with agility'.
The little 'low' and 'medium' thing just says how much it scales by. So the gun would see less from having a magic potency stat of one hundred than the fastball would.
With a high enough magical potency, it's very likely that the fastball would far surpass the flintlock's damage potential. But that's like... in the forties or fifties range. Quite far away.
I watch her look over the gun with a bright smile, then turn and practically skip out the door. Probably going off to go blow something's head off.
"Ruin." I hear a voice call out
"Huh? Do I know you?"
"Chess."
"Ah!" Rias exclaims. "Son- er- Grandmaster!"
I step outside the shop slowly seeing Rias speak to a white haired woman.
Grandmaster {Lv 1}
Looking closer, I can tell that it is Sona Sitri. However she has made some changes here and there.
First and foremost, her hair is a stark white, her eyes have changed from purple to a deep neon green.
She appears slightly bustier than normal as well.
Overall, not too many things changed, but just enough to make it hard to tell its her unless you put them side by side.
Heck of a name, though I can totally respect that.
I've already locked down the name 'Merlin' for my first character as well.
That fucker died hundreds of years ago. It's not like he's using it.
I move out of the way of the door to the shop, then hop up to the rooftops, taking a seat on the edge of the tiles, gazing down at the two girls.
Sona looks up to Rias' username. "I take it that you are enjoying this game?"
"Oh, it's the best! I even got this cool toy to play with just now!" She gestures wildly to the gun.
"I am unfamiliar with... games like this." Sona quietly begins. "is... eighty damage good? It must be, right? As it would take ninety percent of my magical energy to shoot that once. Not that I can even use it quite due to those... requirements."
"What are your stats like, by the way?" Rias questions.
"I... how do I-"
Rias waves her hand, causing her menu to open. "Oh, just do this."
Sona follows along, her first attempt fails as she uses her wrong hand, but she eventually gets it. "Oh. I see."
"I have four in Strength, Agility, Durability, Vitality, and Luck. Then I have a Magical Potency Stat of ten and a magical regeneration stat of seven."
"Ah, you went magic build as well?"
"The game is called domain of Magic, Ria- Ruin." Sona replies, her hand coming up to her face to push her glasses... only to pause as there's nothing there. "It seemed like by far the best decision. What about you?"
"Oh, I have threes in all non-magic stats instead. My magical potency is currently sitting at sixteen, and my magical regeneration is at twelve. You seem to get two stat points per level." Rias explains. "Oh, by the way, You can change how you open the menu in the settings, plus there's a bunch of other useful stuff there like subtitles and pain modification."
"What sort of pervert would want to feel pain?!"
"Masochists? Also the creator said that there's a level of tactile feedback you just can't get without a little pain." Rias shrugs. "I'm inclined to believe him. You could get shot in the back, but without pain it'd just feel like a little shove to you, so you wouldn't know how bad your current situation is."
"You've met the creator?" Sona mutters. "What is he like?"
"If you're thinking about recruitment... I don't think it'll work. Your sister tried and she was declined." Rias sighs, eyes straying around her surroundings as she has to carefully pick her words. Leaving out words like 'peerage' and 'reincarnate'. "A total bummer that he doesn't really seem to want to join."
"Oh wait!" The redhead gasps. "Before I forget. Party Invite: Grandmaster."
Sona flinches back as a screen appears in front of her, she looks over it briefly then clicks 'yes'.
"What did that do?"
"Ah, just made it so we share combat experience. Milim is also in the party."
"Are you sure you should be saying her real name?" Sona frowns.
"Ah. My bad." Rias sighs. "But she just doesn't really seem to care, shouting 'Milim Punch' and 'Fwoosh' at things she hits."
"Are there any other benefits to partying?" Sona questions.
"Well, in other games, yes, but here the creator locked most other benefits like monitoring the health and magic of party members and seeing them on the minimap behind a magic type called archive magic. As it is now, we just share experience from kills."
"Ah. I see. What level is she, might I ask?" Sona continues.
"Well, the last time I checked, it was about the same as me. But she could have leveled up while we have been apart... right now we're training for that raid in four hundred and ninty hours!"
"Ah. I saw that." Sona mutters. "I got that quest the second I appeared in-game. What is that about?"
"Basically the most valuable player in the battle against the wyvern can make a request to the game master... so something like 'Can I have some money to play with more shop items' or maybe he'll give you free level ups if you ask for them... because our stats will be reset at the end of the beta anyways."
"I see..." The white haired girl cups her chin, looking around in Intrigue. "What do we do first?"
"Follow me, Grandmaster. I'll show you around!" Rias smiles brightly as she turns and begins walking towards Fairy Tail.
'let's see who else I can find.'
[Split]
"W-Wah! S-Stay back!" A small girl cries as she runs away from a large wolf.
I let out a long sigh, rubbing my temples. 'how old even is she?'
I quickly stop forwards, kicking the wolf away.
I gaze back to the girl who has brown hair tied loosely into pigtails.
She has red eyes and is really tiny, a dagger in hand.
She looks back at me, tears in her eyes.
"You do know this is a mature game for a reason, right?" I ask.
Silica {Lv 1}
She lets out a quiet sniffle as I hold up a hand, letting out another sigh. "Just go back to spawn."
With a dull flash of light, she disappears under the effects of my admin console.
Well. That's another sword art online character... and speaking of sword art online characters how is Kirito doing?
Kirito {Lv 4}
Huh. Not bad. On par with Rias and Milim. It appears his early grab of a sword let him get ahead of them when they were going around using their rings of sparks and punching things.
How is Issei doing?
Boobmaster69 {Lv 1}
Eh. Didn't really expect much. He'll learn how to play eventually.
Ping
'hn?'
Ping
Ping
Ping
Ping
Oh dear. That's not good.
That's a notification from Yui that someone is having a mental breakdown... and judging from the numerous pings... it's quite a bad one.
I teleport abruptly, reappearing in the water.
A girl flails, clawing at the water around her as she tries desperately to get her head above the water.
I float forwards at high speed, with a wave of my hand, the girl is shoved from the water by a large archive screen with a few holes in it to allow the water to drain.
Hacking coughs leave her mouth as she hunches over upon the archive platform.
Her entire body shakes as she stays there, slightly curled up in a ball. Choked sobs leave her lips as she lays there, tears quickly appearing in her eyes.
My eyes stray upwards.
Furina De Fontaine {Lv 1}
"Are you alright?" I gently question.
A female voice echoes in my head. "Adrenaline levels are spiking. Brain activity points to a panic attack. Elevated heart rate suggesting that this user has had previous detrimental experiences with water."
Fuck.
Alright.
I take a seat on the screen, my hand coming to rest on the girl's shoulder. "It's okay. I'm here. You're safe now."
"..."
I could break my rules for a little bit.
I snap my finger, then suddenly we are half way across Fiore... outside the boundaries of the beta.
The girl continues to cry for a few minutes, her sobs eventually subsiding.
"Are you okay now?" I question.
Her eyes look slightly puffy as she sits up, she runs a hand along her face.
"I'm fine." She declares. "Monsieur Guide. I will admit that this game of yours is very... lifelike... it does not appear to be my cup of tea. I will be going now."
"So, you're running away?" I ask.
"I am NOT running away!" The girl scoffs, eye narrowing.
"Then why leave after merely one bad experience?" I ask.
"It's- its not that simple." She frowns.
"Then perhaps simplify it for me." I snap my fingers and suddenly we are elsewhere, sitting across from each other in a large booth. The girl looks around briefly before looking at me in confusion.
"Quite arrogant to assume you could freely dine with someone like me." She haughtily tilts her head back slightly. "I am married to my work. I have no time for simple dates."
"I genuinely have no idea who you are." I state. "I was just notified by our mental health and wellness system- which I come to realize will need some more hands-on capabilities- that you were having a panic attack."
"You... You have no idea who I am?!" The girl whispers. "That's ridiculous! Everyone in France knows the name Furina De Fontaine!"
"I'm Japanese."
"Then- Then- how are you speaking French so well?!" She seems genuinely surprised.
"Ah. That's the thing. Here in domain of magic... Language has no meaning. Instead of words, Intent is being spoken. There are some slight inaccuracies here and there, sure, but what you speak in French sounds Japanese to me, and what I speak in Japanese, or German, or Italian, or English, or Chinese... it will sound French to you."
"You- You're Pentalingual?!" The woman whispers.
Her sheer shock at that statement tells me one thing...
She doesn't seem to be supernatural in the slightest despite her unusual appearance. Looking at her file she didn't even change anything about herself- aside from slightly increasing her bust size.
White hair with blue streaks, heterochromia of two different shades of blue, pupils- the same color as the iris of the other eye- in a tear-drop shape.
"Of course, I made something that is a good five hundred years more advanced than our current technology. Did you think I couldn't learn to speak several languages?"
"I will admit though." I sigh. "Never studied much French. I know some phrases, sure, but not enough to say that I 'know' the language."
"..."
"So, Water, hn?" I hum. "Something bad must have happened to you in the past to make you that scared of water."
Her mouth twitches slightly, slowly becoming a frown. "I don't really want to talk about it."
"Come now." I smile. "Perhaps some food will loosen your lips?"
"Waiter?" I call out. "Could we get the daily special."
A man in a tuxedo slowly walks over, he briefly looks over Furina's soaking form, nose crinkling slightly.
My eyes narrow as I wave my hand LITERALLY re-writing his very being in an instant to be compliant. I'll undo it later. I don't need his elitist arrogant shit right now.
"Right away, sir."
He returns in mere moments, a large two-tiered cake carried on a silver plater.
He sits it between us.
"Thank you." I nod, dismissing the waiter.
"I should watch my figure."
"You do realize none of this is real, right?" I let out a small huff of amusement and raise an eyebrow. "You could eat a literal molten lava cake with zero downsides in this world."
"..."
She reaches out slowly, gazing to a knife beside the cake, then cuts a large piece off and transports it to her plate.
She takes a bite, eyes widening as she looks down at the cake. "This is... surprisingly good."
"Taste. Touch. Sight. Sound. Smell. Each and every sense exists here in this world. You could call it a second life, really." I admit. "This thing I made... really is a fantastic little thing. The terminally ill gain four times as long to experience life, those who have lost limbs, or lost feeling in their body will regain it, it even has a ninety four percent chance to draw someone out of a coma."
She lets out a small hum, having stuffed her face with more cake in the meantime.
"So... Water hm? Might I ask why being submerged in about ten feet of water caused you a violent mental break?"
"..."
"I do not freely wish to divulge traumas to people I just met." The girl frowns.
"Well. Okay." I shrug. "Talking about them might make you feel better... but if you don't want to, there's nothing I can do to force you."
"I myself faced a fairly taxing tribulation, once... it happened... what, eight, nine years ago? When I was just a boy... Me, my sibling, and my childhood friend were playing in a nearby park when It appeared. The largest animal I had ever seen...
It was rabid. Feral. And wanted nothing more than to kill me and my friends. I took it upon myself to distract it... to lead it away from my brother and friend... I, by all means should have died. But. I was lucky. I managed to slip away. I was scared, yes, but I didn't allow my fear to dictate my life. With time and effort, I managed to get over my fear, it wasn't easy-"
A total lie. I was never really that scared to begin with.
"But, with enough time and effort, I was able to become free from my trauma and carry on with my life without it weighing me down." I continue.
The woman lets out a long sigh, staring into my eyes.
"When I was just six years old, while visiting the beach with my family... a riptide carried me out to sea." The girl quietly elaborates. "It took two entire days for someone to find me. I was lucky to even be alive. This isn't just something... that I could 'fix' if I wanted to. I just don't do well with large bodies of water."
"..."
"I am sorry that happened to you." I whisper. "But... you persevered. You lived. You shouldn't let one event from your childhood dictate your entire life."
"Have you considered water magic?" I ask.
"Pardon?"
"Have you considered literally taking control of your trauma... and forcing it to abide by your own will and whims. Specializing in water. You won't drown because you can simply create a bubble in the water. Or you could simply walk atop it."
"I... perhaps will think about it." The girl quietly whispers. "I-"
"I thank you for treating me to a meal, Guide. I will... likely return, however I have been here for quite a while, and frankly... it is a bit suffocating, being here in a world that is so realistic, but so fantastical and wild."
"Let me just quickly teleport you back into the boundaries of the demo, then." I announce as with a wave of my hand she disappears.
"..."
"I hope she gets some fuckin therapy."
[Split]
I climb out of the Eden pod, a long breath leaving my lips as I stretch my arms above my head.
"Fucking hell. That was annoying." I sigh.
"What was?" Mittelt questions.
"I take it you saw the mental breakdown of French girl?" I ask.
"Oh yeah. That was bad. We need to upgrade Yui a little bit. Create a 'This game may literally traumatize you if you get mauled by dogs' sort of user agreement."
"Yep."
I glance around the room. "Damn it! Did you already eat all the gyoza?"
"Yeah?"
"Fuck you! I wanted one."
"Too bad. We've still got some shrimp fried rice left over if you-"
"You're telling me-"
"If the next words out of your mouth are 'a shrimp fried this rice' I'm hitting you." The girl stares blankly.
"..." I briefly ponder if I should follow through.
"-A shrimp friend that rice?" I did.
She looks over to me, a bright beaming happy smile, her eyes shut.
She lifts a small yellow smiley faced stress ball, then squeezes it.
It pops in under a second, causing green goop to drip down her clenched fist, her eyebrow twitches. "Look. What. You. Made. Me. Do."
I let out a small snort, that being enough to break the tension for us to both begin laughing.
"I think you're wrong about fallen angels having a single sin." I observe between laughs. "I mean, really. You're just a mishmash of all of the sins, really."
"It adds to my charm." She shrugs, a smug smirk on her lips.
"Pride."
"Yes yes, Pride. I'm mad at you. You're Mine. I'm jealous that Serafall has been fucking a body double of you for the past like... thirty minutes-"
"Wait what?" I mutter.
"-I'm hungry. I want to go to bed, and I got bored so I touched myself to a photo of you I took while you were taking a shower."
"..."
"Pride. Anger. Greed. Envy. Gluttony. Sloth. And Lust. There. I did them all for you." She rolls her eyes.
"Can we go back to the Serafall bit for a fucking second?!" I ask.
"Ah, yeah. That freak. She went back to her fanfiction with her little sister. Being all 'My lovely So-Tan... you're right! Mother and Father want grandchildren and I don't want to hurt them! That's why I will bring someone here to knock us both up! So our children will have the same father and be our shared daughters!' She's making me look at her in a new light... I don't think I'll ever be spooked by her again."
"What the actual fuck?" I whisper. "How did she even make a copy of me?! We only met like... twice!"
"Oh, believe me, it's not perfect. Some inconsistencies here and there. She made you too small where it matters, as well... well, I mean, still above average, just... not as much as the real thing."
"Pervert. What if I go whine to your dad about sexual harassment in the workplace... I'll take you to HR."
"Ah, but my dear, poor, innocent Suzu... what does HR stand for? Might I ask" She questions, taking a sip of what looks to be coffee.
"..."
"Hentai Regulations?"
She nearly spills her coffee from letting out a quiet snort.
"Fuck you, Suzu." The girl coughs after a moment.
"Fuck me yourself you coward." I scoff as I walk towards the fridge to grab a soda or something-
Mittelt stands up abruptly, taking her earbuds out.
She slowly turns to me, her face deathly serious, her lips tugged down into a frown.
The corners of her lips slowly turn upwards as her blue eyes bore into my own.
She stalks forwards on a mission, an aura of menace seeming to radiate from her as she brightly grins. "Oh, Suzu... I was waiting for consent."
"Alright. You're mildly scaring me." I break immediately. "If we're going to fuck, so be it, but can we skip over the menacing dommy mommy- who is literally a foot shorter than me- routine that makes me question my safety and get to the part where I bend you over the nearest object and fill you like an Eclair?"
Her face falls, seeming to lose a lot of her energy. "Dude... really? You're ruining this for me."
"Oops." I mutter. "Ah. Ignore me. So like, what do you want to do. Maybe make some large tuning fork-like light spears to pin me to the floor? But these floors are nice. That'd really ruin the hardwood... handcuffs would result in practically the same thing, just without the property damage."
The girl in front of me lets out a long sigh, grasping my collar and pulling me down to her level.
"You acting so cute is making it really hard to restrain myself~" she hums in a sing-songy tone, her voice sounding as if she is teetering just on the edge of madness. "Get in bed before I jump you here and now."
"I-"
I pause as my watch chimes in a very specific tone.
We both look down as I enlarge the screen, Mittelt letting out a very loud 'MHHHHHHHHH' internal scream of rage.
"Alright, what sort of supernatural bullshit is it n-" I watch three white cloaked figures walk down the street. They are heading in the general direction of my house, or rather, what used to be my house.
I take a deep breath, then exhale. "Cockblocking little fucking-"
"Go." Mittelt sighs running her hand down her face. "The second you come back you'd be lucky to leave that bed in a limp after I break your pelvis."
She turns back to the computer. "I'm going to masturbate now."
"Ah... you... Do that." I mutter as I turn and walk towards the door. "I'll be back to help in like... I don't know, thirty minutes maybe?"
"Be safe." She tiredly waves, slumping in the chair as if all of her energy had been sucked out. "Make sure to give them a punch for being fucking annoying."
"Sure, Sure." I agree.
