I’m excited to share a closer look at my newest mod kit from the Plumfruit Collection: Retrofruit! It’s time to revisit the past... I also just released an update to Luminova (1.6), with new features and refreshed designs, and making it cross-compatible with Retrofruit as well as Plumfruit Essentials! It’s been such a long time since I wanted to explore the lore and nostalgia of the Plumfruit Inc. company, and I’m so happy to finally present this pack today. Retrofruit is an hommage to vintage tech, featuring fictional devices from the 90's and early 2000's, but also an anachronistic invention of mine: the landline smart telephone! This pack is full of nostalgia, warm tones, and retro-futuristic design… let’s take a look at what’s included!
🖥️ iPlum Classic - The OG Plumfruit computer, that allowed your sims to play Sims Forever in 1995, or maybe explore some of the very first internet websites and forums! It also features the redesigned and re-organised interactions menu and categories!
🖥️ iPlum 2000 - A slightly more recent model that would’ve launched in the early 2000s. The iPlum 2000 features a unique all-in-one base with a screen mounted on a metallic arm, revolutionary at the time! It brings back those memories of brushed aluminium, coloured plastics, and a design that felt like it came straight from the future at the time! Featuring iconic wallpapers and an original 2000's inspired UI I designed myself!
🎵 The miniPod Station - The iconic miniPod was the most famous music portable device back in the days, allowing you to carry an entire library of albums and singles in your pocket! Today, Retrofruit brings back the miniPod with its very high-end dock station, made out of metal and wood, with exceptional sound quality and a new Music app, gathering your favourite music stations and commands! The miniPod even has an animated screen and comes in 8 colourful swatches!
☎️ The RetroPhone - This is a fully functional landline smart telephone! The RetroPhone was ahead of its time when it came out, with Home Security features, clock alarms, an animated touch screen, and the ability to order services, call the emergencies, or just call your friends to chat! This device brings the charm of landlines back into your Sims’ homes. Just a tip though: don’t walk too far away during a call or you’ll get disconnected! And bonus: it’s cross-compatible with my CheatsMaster mod, and using shift+click on it will reveal the cheats menu!
🖨️ Functional Printer - The Retrofruit Printer lets your Sims print documents from their phone, and you can write them yourself! Great for journal entries, data summary, logging your bills and utilities, family memories, or even writing stories. It's up to you! You can save the printed documents in your storage devices, maybe on a floppy disk for example?
📑 Functional Documents - The documents you can print with this printer are fully customizable! Choose from a variety of templates: text document, resume, data analysis, bills and utilities, newspaper article… and write them yourself! Just click on the “Edit Document” interaction and a UI menu will pop up, where you can rename and edit the content of the document. Reading it later is super easy: simply hover your mouse over it and its title and content will be displayed. This is perfect for players who love immersive storytelling, and something I have always felt was missing in The Sims 4. Now we can finally write down our stories, notes, and memories using nothing but our imagination.
💾 Functional Storage – You need to sort and store your memories, photos, documents? Say no more! Retrofruit has got you covered, because this kit features not only functional floppy disks, but also CD-ROMs and USB flash drives! You can rename the storage unit, let’s say “Summer 95 Memories” for example, and add your memories in its inventory, like photos from your Selvadorada holiday, and maybe journal pages where your Sim wrote a poem about a love interest they met by the river… it’s all up to your imagination! They also come in various colourful swatches!

Storing documents and photos on CD-ROMs and flash drives is great, but where do you put them??? Well… I also designed new pieces of furniture so you can store your storage!
Say hello to the elegant wooden CD Tower, where you can display your CDs and floppy disks as if they were floating, as well as the beautiful Storage Tower with shelves to hide away documents, CDs, and more. It’s the perfect item to place next to the landline smart telephone, for example!

Also please note that Retrofruit has just been updated to its 1.1 update! This update features a fix for the "View" interaction on a document. Sims can now use the "Read Document" interaction, they will get close to the document and a notification will appear in the top right corner with the title and text written on the documents! That's it! Enjoy :)

Put it in your Mods folder (and enable mods in the game's settings)
Enjoy :) You can find the items by searching for "Retrofruit" or "Arnie" in the build/buy searchbar, there are 13 items!

Are you considering adding compatibility for other landline phone cc like the cepzid and awingedllama ones, and plumbbros/simzlink? I am having trouble getting the printer to work. My sims can never route to it no matter where I put it. I feel like I must be missing something or a step they should be doing. Do they need to buy paper first? Does it have to be on the retrofruit desk?

Hi Denise oh wow I'm so happy you enjoy this mod kit 🥹 I thought about modding the travel system in the game, but an interaction to travel can only be made to send the player to the worlds maps, or to send them to a single specific lot address (because of how the game works). This is not ideal, but I'll keep thinking about it because I do have travel modding plans... Stay tuned! And thank you for your support💜

Played Retro yesterday for over 17 hours:) Just wanted to say...Awesome job, Arnie!!! Became a supporter after Luminova and can't wait to see what's next!!! Do you think maybe a "put away groceries" update for fridge could be possible and maybe instead of phone stating "Travel", maybe destination names (Willow Creek-Chestnut Ridge-Oasis Springs) then a drop-down menu with the places available to visit under each destination? Sorry just thinking:)
