To me, Matt and Elena have a connection. But it isn’t romance. After so many years of friendship a breakup isn’t going to erase that. Caroline has to accept that Matt likes her but is still friends with Elena. Especially since Elena doesn’t care if they get together because she is happy with Stefan. There isn’t any jealousy on her side.
