I would like to point out how Nina Dobrev (Katherine and Elena’s actress) is just an amazing performer, I swear to god she has that evil look in her eyes when she’s playing Katherine that I NEVER felt that these two characters were the same actress, i genuinely felt like two different people delivered that performance and it just blows my mind every single time, also, the fear you feel the first time when you see Katherine, her dark energy, terrifying aura, you just feel something deep in your stomach even when she’s just talked about let alone actually present… thumbs up to Nina Dobrev

Damon is suffering from CPTSD and I can’t get to the reasons why he has it, CPTSD is like emotional Flash back, it’s like whenever you deeply get hurt again it opens the gate to all the pains of your previous traumas, you start feeling them like they’re happening all over again. So Damon in that moment didn’t just felt the heartbreak of Katherine and Elena, He was feeling every pain of his existence and the emotional memories of all of his past traumas,That’s why he lost his connection with reality for a second there and was not at all aware of what he was doing. In that moment, he couldn’t connect the dots in his head that hurting Jeremy would hurt Elena too, that’s why it was unintentional. It happened in the span of a second and in that moment, in a twisted way Damon thought that he was helping Jeremy too and it was because of the conversation they had the night before about humanity switch, to turn it off and put an end to all the sufferings. Damon was hurting and he knew Jeremy was hurting too so it was like let’s both put an end to our suffering. If you pay attention to what he’s saying, he’s talking about turning off humanity switch and he’s talking about himself and Jeremy at the same time, he was gonna turn Jeremy and then turn off his humanity but Elena’s scream brought him back to reality and stopped him from doing that, made him realise what he had just done. There was a shock look on his face, he couldn’t even believe why he even did that. What Katherine did to Damon in this scene was completely calculated and planned out. Katherine knew that Damon has CPTSD, dark empath are extremely good at reading people emotionally and psychologically and Every thing she did was to trigger Damon’s emotional wound as much as possible to push him over the edge. She had this in mind to first have sex with Damon and then after that completely destroyed Damon by telling him she never loved him but it didn’t go exactly as she planned because Damon was not gonna completely lose himself in his passion for Katherine before he knew about the truth, but the result was what exactly what Katherine wanted. First by seducing him and making out with him before telling him, she never loved him, that was the confirmation that he was just a sex toy for her, every intimate moment that they had was just Katherine using him for her own pleasure. Second, she used the word NEVER that means every thing they had together was a lie that hurt Damon deeply because realism is one of Damon’s life philosophy. What Katherine said automatically made his last 145 years of his life a lie,he was loving a lie, living a lie, even his vampirism was a lie, he only wanted to become a vampire to be with Katherine. She also said it was only Stefan because as usual she wanted to turn the brothers against each other but that part of her plan didn’t work because Damon and Stefan had already started to repair their bond so Damon will not get jealous and get mad at Stefan but it’s still gonna hurt him deeply that he’s never the one so he came to the conclusion that maybe Stefan is the one who deserved love more than him. His reasons for existence abandoned him at that moment S1E16:”My primary reason for existence has abandoned me and after today's events, the remains of the shakey ground that I walk on are about to go kaboom.” It was not completely destroyed then because he still had hope, but in this scene it finally happened and then Elena unknowingly repeating exactly what Katherine said was the last nail on the coffin. his CPTSD got triggered and he did what he did and every one blamed Damon but not Katherine. It’s unfortunately true even in real life, most people would blame the victim for their retaliation to the abuse especially when they’re on the survivor mode but no one would ask the victim, what triggered him and no one would even see the abuser, the puppet master behind the scene who’s controlling every body using manipulation. Damon and Jeremy were both the victims of Katherine’s emotional manipulation in this episode.

Regarding Tyler's reaction to his father's death, I don't think he's happy his father died rather he's conflicted. Even though his father was abusive, I think Tyler still mourned him which confused him resulting in that violent outburst.

The writers saw that fans were loving Damon too much so they had to make his journey longer which is why he flip flops. My interpretation is what he says to Jeremy about erasing the pain is exactly what they’ve talked about before. Jeremy wanting to shut out the pain and turn and Damon experiencing that said pain and telling him that he’s shut out his humanity for a long time. Pretty cool dynamic/ parallel there imo Remember that Damon’s humanity isn’t full on like Stefan it’s on a dimmer so it fluctuates between up and down. That’s why he’s more “chaotic” at times and not as controlled. Here’s another cool dynamic Stefan is controlled in his humanity but not bloodlust, Damon is more controlled in his bloodlust but not his humanity. Last one is how Katherine responds to Stefan’s rejection similar to how Damon did. Just goes to show the heightened emotion a vampire experiences which they stated before. And they both kill someone at the end of the episode

Vampire blood will work even if you’re on the brink of death. It works very fast. I think Stefan knew it was Katherine because he knows Elena so well by now, and Damon didn’t know because he loves Elena more than Stefan does. So he was blinded by that. I feel bad Damon heard essentially the exact same thing from 2 women he was/is in love with. You can’t expect someone to be hurt like that and not snap a little. I don’t see how people like Bonnie. Stefan explained before that when he saw Elena, he was curious because he couldn't believe she looked exactly like Katherine. And that's what intrigued him at first, but he basically stalked her for a while and saw that was nothing like her and that's what made him attracted to her.

damon's issues aren't stefan's fault. damon literally told him that in s1. also damon knew that stefan liked katherine and that katherine liked stefan. both brothers knew. everyone around them knew. it wasn't a secret so he had to know the risk that his love wouldn't fully be returned. that's why I don't feel that bad especially after all these years and then him taking that anger out on elena's brother was too much.
