The Inevitable Sick Day

The work goes on, but trouble finds us even when our heads are down. My indispensable editor Nate H. is down with COVID for the second time! I'm sure he'll recover quickly, but he's not feeling good at all.
As for me, I've realized that the new shop needs a coat of paint. That yellow hue behind the work bench was doing me no favors and the color-correction was a pain for Nate. Of course, this is a major disruption in a shop that was largely set up. I've attached a few pictures of the primer. There's another day's work to get the finish coat on and paint the far wall, which I just realized is too dark.
My trusty shop assistant Brannon will be in soon to lend a hand, so wish me luck.
I'm sure people are ready for regular videos to resume, but this shop is taking extra time to set up and organize. Please bear with me for a while longer while I get everything settled.
Happy Saturday!

Wishing for a speedy recovery and good luck with the rest of the move-in/setup process!

It has to be (mostly) a pleasure :^)

I did shoot some footage, so a painting video is possible!
Rex Krueger
Thank you!

I thought the space was "industrial cool". Turns out it was just "too dark."
Rex Krueger
I'm trying to take it slow and do a good job.
Rex Krueger
You're very kind to say so!@

It will be Sherwin Williams "Eider White", which was suggested by a pro designer I know. Looks great so far!

And now there's a tarp over it, so it's a lumpy, mysterious mess.
Rex Krueger
You're very kind to offer!

Kind of crazy how much paint is on old tools, right? I rarely paint around my woodworking tools, but times have changed.
Rex Krueger
Thank you for understanding!

The shop looks SO bright now. It's going to look like a different space.
Rex Krueger
Hope YOU'RE feeling better, too!
Rex Krueger
I'll pass that along
Rex Krueger
He's already getting better!
Rex Krueger
I'll pass that along!

It's not remotely enough! It's one I already had, so I tried it out. Just received a monster, 1200 BTU unit off Amazon. It will go in the window this month.
Rex Krueger
Thank you!
Rex Krueger
Really hoping the paint will be done today. Finger crossed!
Rex Krueger
Literally everything.
Rex Krueger
I appreciate that very much!
Rex Krueger
You too!
Rex Krueger
I will make....a thing out of wood?
Rex Krueger
He's already feeling better!

Best wishes Nate for a speedy recovery from this nasty virus. Rex, set up a camera on live feed. I'm willing to watch paint dry if that's all you have time and space for. According to Murphy, any well planned project will, when in the last stages of completion, will turn into chaos the day before completion. Some times you just gotta live with it. Take care and when you're ready and healthy let us know.

Get well Nate, we can wait!

Painting will help a lot with the lighting. I found good lighting with no shadows helps a lot with layout work. It’s got to be more important when making videos.
Thomas Hverring
Best to Nate. And you take your time to do it how you feel it needs to be done, Rex.

What's another week? Get well soon Nate.

This seems like yet another good opportunity to quote the "Twelve Networking Truths" RFC, published April 1st, 1996 (https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc1925): (9a) (corollary) Every [networking] problem always takes longer to solve than it seems like it should. Is white-ish the final color? If so, you're missing the opportunity to give Nate ultimate control over the background -- surprise him by painting them lime green!

That first picture... "the part of 'storage shelf' and random junk holder will today be played by the Nicholson."

Hope everyone feels better! If I was close I'd come over and give you a hand.. (I'm Falcon9h BTW 😁)

Without plastic drapes on the machines, I’m guessing we’ll see “the obligatory white paint drops” on them. (Rollers flick a LOT, and we all know every old plane comes with a few.)

Nope! Can't wait! Suck it up buttercup! But seriously, you guys all take care and when you're well and ready I know you'll be better than ever. Looking forward to the new content. Be well.

Like almost every other shop project there are always hiccups and bumps in the road. A well balanced backdrop will be worth the extra time needed for those coats of paint. Very sorry to hear about Nate and I wish him a very speedy recovery.
Gerhard Wäger
Get well soon. Just had my turn of this scurge.
Bryce Carver
Get well Nate!
Martin
Good luck Rex! Hope Nate gets back to full health quickly!

Best to Nate! BTW, I would say that little window unit most have "high hopes" in that space :-)
Jim
I hope Nate feels better soon and good luck with the painting :)

Nate get well soon, it sux to get it once much less twice. Take care! I spent all day long yesterday doing a job that should have only taken about 3 hours. So I feel ya Rex.

My mantra is "everything takes more time".

I too hope Nate get's well soon. I haven't had Covid myself but I can imagine it's quite an ordeal. Never mind those videos. Health is more importand than anything else, and most projects have setbacks, also, you need to spend some time with your family. You start filming when you're ready...
Guy Mengel
I hope Nate feels better! Nice shop in basement.. thats where mine is to be soon. I hope your saturday is good!
Nikoloz Petelava
Yes a big project like this (for me any project) always takes longer than you expect. That´s the one thing I´ve learned woodworking. Good luck! And can you give us an idea what your next video will be about?
Martin Hartley
Oh no! Get well soon, Nate!
