Exclusive Behind the Scenes: How we do SFX
🕑 Added 2023-07-15 11:00:04 +0000 UTCFriends:
We just re-posted a classic video with some new special effects (it's right here if you missed it).
The lightning effects in that video were difficult and we're very proud of them. Today, Nate takes you into the editing process so you can see all the detailed work that made those shots a success.
Hope you enjoy this EXCLUSIVE look, just for Patrons.
Happy Saturday!

I so disagree with this comment! Au contraire! I loved this. And it shows just how difficult this can be.

Thank you! I appreciate the extras, however, I really like the woodworking stuff! Keep up the great stuff.

You're very welcome.

I thought it was interesting enough for a video. I'm glad people enjoyed it.
Rex Krueger
We're glad you enjoyed it. Really.

The purpose of your subscription is to get extras that the YouTube audience doesn't get. I share the basics with everyone. Patrons get additional stuff, and it's not all woodworking. We just do a little of this stuff.

Priorities indeed.

So many people thought the electrolysis machine was a real thing. I did not expect people to take it this seriously.

It's nice to know that the free software has gotten better. We started editing in Blender, which wasn't easy, but it was free.

This is good advice! I have a nice chair and it was worth every penny!

Thanks Nate!

the audio and video are part of the process, and i like that stuff too

Don’t listen to that guy above. It’s great that you share the spotlight with your coworkers. Your channel wouldn’t be anywhere near this great without them.
Blake Webber
Nate, Rex. The time you took to show us how the sausage is made, is a waste of resources. I thought the purpose of the subscription was to show us the basics! I enjoy woodworking. Please show your talents in the projects and skills we can use. Very nice you to try and show us, but more projects, please.
JKlarinet
Priorities.

Do not ignore this advice. It will protect your back! Invest in a good mesh chair with good lombar support!

You blurred the mirror but not the booze bottles?

I spent an entire day just polishing up an old plough plane and I could have just run it through an electrolysis machine? I NEED one of those. Wait, what? I need a Nate? Okay, c'mon up, buddy! I have a lot of old stuff up here that needs a touch up!
Bradley Barth
Nate, very neat. As a content creator myself I certainly know how much time and effort video and audio editing takes. You certainly got some great software. I am using VideoProc Vlogger. Certainly not as robust as Adobe but enough for free right now. Thanks for the insights!

Hey Nate, I used to write custom accounting software for business clients. I can't imagine the time it takes to create a 30 minute video. One thing you should get (unless you already have) is a much better desk chair. Keep your body upright and straight, and your wrists at a proper angle. I've been working at a keyboard for over 45 years and have never developed carpal tunnel syndrome or any wrist or hand issues. You do an amazing job with your very powerful tools.
