Patron Exclusive Series: The Build-Along Series
🕑 Added 2024-06-22 11:00:06 +0000 UTCFriends:
We've decided to do an all new series. Instead of building a project and then sharing it, we're going to build a project in tiny little bits so that anyone can follow along in real time.
It's a whole new thing and we're really excited. All the details are in the video. The plans are attached to this post and you can see them on the forum here: https://forum.woodworkforhumans.com/t/simple-shaker-end-table/7657
Oh, and here are the original two build videos so you can see the whole thing:

This will be happening every Wednesday until it's done, so sharpen your tools and let's get to it!
This series will not affect our regular videos, this is an ADDITIONAL series, just for Patrons. You deserve it.

NE Ohio weather. LOL
Bradley Barth
Nice. Looking forward to this!

Oh yeah you're right. Although I believe he has a specific design in mind. Either way I'm gonna talk to him and see if he'd be interested in the Shaker Table design. Thank you, Rex.
Sean McGown
Of course. I meant to imply that it helps creators like you and us fortunates that get to watch all that goodness. Honestly, it helps me because I can get sucked into watching longer form stuff and there goes the afternoon.

Was in Springfield last Thursday, it was brutal, Syracuse, NY over the weekend wasn't much better. Hopefully you get cooler temperatures and can work in your shop more easily.
Rex Krueger
Well, we're probably going to do 20 or 30 videos, so plenty of time!
Rex Krueger
Thank you!
Rex Krueger
You know, this table could be a speaker stand. Really.
Rex Krueger
When I own the building, I'll do that. Right now my heat is included and my summers are short, so the building stays the way it is!
Rex Krueger
Me too! Thanks for letting me know you like it!
Rex Krueger
I was hoping people would feel that way!
Rex Krueger
Thank you!
Rex Krueger
My landlord is not interested in deals. If I insulate that ceiling, I'm eating the expense...so I'm not doing it!
Rex Krueger
Well, I do count that, but this will be the first piece for the house!
Rex Krueger
I was hoping it would build up a little anticipation!
Rex Krueger
Man, it's been brutal. Today is better, thank goodness.
Rex Krueger
Since I've already recorded it, I'm going to go with no. But you're right. The wood needs to settle.
Rex Krueger
I'm really glad you like the idea
Rex Krueger
Not everyone! Just the Patrons.
Rex Krueger
I would gladly send some of this heat your way!
Kirk C
Sorry about your ceiling!!! And yessssss, I love this concept, as a new woodworker, it can be a little overwhelming to watch one or two videos of a build and then have to watch them over and over again to make it happen. Thank you
Helge
Such a cool idea, Rex!

I'd love to follow along with the build if I'm able to. Been busy building a custom guitar and I've got 2 more to cases after the first one is complete. Also someone is wanting me to make them a pair of speaker stands but I'm still waiting on the design they want. I really wanna learn how to make a table. I made quick and dirty table with folding legs but that's not a "real" table. Lol Thanks Rex
Fred S
Foam insulate it. Good for summer and winter weather. You can rent equipment and buy materials at Home Depot or Lowes.
Matt Evans-Koch
Great idea, Rex. Really looking forward to this series.
Robert
Great idea! Looking forward to this. Nice recognition of your Patrons.
Gordon Brandly
Sounds like a great concept!
Richard C von Brecht
Itโs a little off topic but you need to insulate that ceiling. The heating and AC bills must be crazy. Strike a deal with the landlord. Heโll pay for the materials and you can do a DIY video on insulation. Your videos are always really great. Iโd watch one of you reading a newspaper. Somehow you would make it entertaining.
Jon Rost
This is going to be great! This will be my first complete piece of furniture unless you count my minimum timber workbench which I love!
Joseph Vaughan
Very excited to follow along. And it's kinda nice to have that feeling from long ago when you have to wait till next week for the next episode!
Pete Gelpi
Looking forward to the series Rex. I agree with you about the Mid-west heat wave, I have a new AC unit going in Wednesday! I'm north of you in Michigan.
Geoffrey Wilson
Would it be better to do the stock video first, to allow 2 weeks for the wood to acclimate, then do the tool video the next week?
GFHWoodWerks (Gregory)
This is a great idea. I for one look forward to you doing more of these going forward. I see it as a direct engagement of your community. It also allows for someone to jump in later in the project and catch up. Thanks for doing this Rex.
Sean McGown
That's a fantastic content strategy. By parceling the build out, everybody wins.
Wouter Engels
Awesome idea! Although my wife might not appreciate the even longer wait for the outdoor table I'm building. ๐I hope the heat lets up soon. You could send some here, lousy summer so far.
