Bonus Video: Five Tools in 5 Minutes
🕑 Added 2024-10-05 11:00:12 +0000 UTCFriends:
The Tool Trader Network is off to a great start. We've got over 300 new members just from Patreon and every one of them is approved for a seller account!
There's only one thing we need now: more tools.
I'd like to everyone to list a tool on Tool Trader and to help, I'm digging through the shop to find five of my own tools that I can sell on to the next generation of woodworkers. And to make it more interesting, Nate and I did the hunt LIVE and found all the tools in just 5 minutes. Come watch us run around the shop like maniacs.
And when you're ready to bid on these hidden gems, go over to Tool Trader and use the code STARTNOW to take $5 off your first purchase of any tool, not just mine.
If you haven't signed up for Tool Trader, you better do it soon. We're only giving away automatic seller accounts for a limited time. After that, even Patrons have to apply. And from now until the end of November, all sales have no marketplace fee, so you can sell all you want and we don't get a dime. Now is the time to start selling.
Back to woodworking next week.
Happy Saturday!

I've tried to join tool trader, filled out the join district information, and when I hit submit, it locks up, and I get a spinning circle. Probably tried a dozen times. Like expecting a 7&11 after rolling snake eyes 12 times. Is there a solution to this problem?

I am having the same problem, I fill out my info, and it just spins after I submit my info. Hear about what the problem and solution might be?

How about a short video (or did I miss it) on how to create a listing, load the pictures, etc. Thanks!!

I'd love to sign up Tool Trader, but the site wants me to set up an account in District. Unfortunately, it locks up when I submit my info. I have tried several times since Tool Trader was announced on phone, tablet, and laptop. Does anyone have any suggestions?

awesome ^_^ I know it is a pain to ship overseas but I am keen to participate :) By the way I am close to finishing off my minimal timber bench. Learned a lot from the project :)

Good to hear. Hope you don't mind my posts. I tend to share too much at times I've been told.

It's going well so far. Thank you!

It's been my curse my whole life. Pants just don't stay up.

It's not easy to let them go, but it's for a good cause!

If you watch to the end of the video, we changed that and made it an auction to everyone would have a fair shot. If you're having trouble figuring out what to ask, I just created a "How much do I ask for this?" channel in the chat. It's a great place to ask.

I didn't set up international shipping on these. I'm still getting used to the platform as well. Next time, I'll be sure to do international.

Hey Dustin, the search function works really well and you can find anything that way. We can't make a category for every tool, but it's just like eBay. Search and ye shall find.
Dustin Foster
Hello Rex, any chance you could add an option for those looking for specific tools? For example I'm looking for a decent draw knife for bushcraft type stuff and would be great to have an option to put it out there. Thanks!

Check the last minute or so of the video - Rex explains!

Are these are good to be shipped overseas? I am in Australia

It doesn't look like they went up with "buy now" pricing as you mentioned in the video. The main challenge I have as a beginning woodworker is figuring out how much to ask for a tool.
Richard C von Brecht
Well that was cool and thanks for letting us see and get some of your legendary tool horde. I can sympathize with your reluctance. It’s like selling your children.
John Griswold
Hey Rex, great idea. I have that tool jones problem and definitely have some bench planes to move along. Noticing some "tradesman backside" showing as you run around your shop...might be time to look into suspenders;)
Chris DuCasse
It appears they’re auction items and not buy now items. How can they sell in 48 hours? I’ll be bidding on a few of them but just curious if there’s a secret buy now option

Hi Rex, great video. Hope it all gets off the ground well.
