🕑 Added 2021-02-06 07:39:36 +0000 UTCSo because I don't want to give the 6 dollar tier nothing, here's a dump of either unfinished or otherwise unreleased art of mine going back to near the beginning, which is why so many of them are much worse than others, really sorry to be putting this up instead of what you joined the tier for.
First one is a pic from a couple years ago commemorating the release of Kingdom Hearts III, which was a huge deal to me at the time, being such a huge Kingdom Hearts fan. A story that I'd been invested in watching unfold since I was six years old, a story that shaped my tastes in media to the point that every big creative asperation I had for pretty much my entire life (as believe it or not I didn't get into art intending fetish art to be what I specialize in, I once had much bigger dreams) would take at least some influence from it, was finally coming to an end. And yeah, I already knew at that point that it wasn't the end of the franchise, but I dunno about you, having that game be touted as "the end of the Xehanort saga" made it seem at least like the end of this particular story, so that what came next would be the start of an all new story, which is actually kinda what I've always wanted out of the series since the beginning, for just one game to end without a ton of untied loose ends and sequel bait.
I wanted to have this pic posted early in the morning on the day it came out, with a description that would have at least attempted to convey the emotions and hype that I was feeling at the moment, and the best way I could describe how I would have framed it would be like an army leader talking to his soldiers just before they rush into a battle that will determine the outcome of the war, as if we, the fans, were the keyblade weilders ready to finish off Xehanort, a description that would have been heavily dependent on most people having not gotten a chance to start the game yet. And I consider the descriptions to be just as much a part of the art piece as the pic itself, plenty of times I've even drawn something for the express purpose of giving me an excuse to write a certain description. Well I lacked the foresight to give myself enough time to get it done exactly how I wanted in time, having started it just the night before, only giving myself a few hours to finish it, believing that it would be enough.
8 am the following morning, I had little choice but to put my pen down and stop with Kairi's shading almost but not fully finished, with my back acting up from the uninterrupted time I've been sitting, because I fucked it up in a yoga class a few years ago and it hasn't been the same since. There wasn't much I could do besides lay down, rest it, and fall asleep, which would have me waking up just as my dad, my ride to Walmart to pick up the game as I still don't have a driver's license, was getting out of work, leaving me with little time to get any more work done on it before it was time to get the game and start playing it, something I couldn't put off because my sister wanted to watch me play it as badly as I wanted to play it, so every way to Sunday there was just no getting this pic done and posted on the game's release day. Had I continued working on it, finished it, and posted it, the description that was part of my creative vision just wasn't going to work.
And sure it may sound silly to not finish it and waste all that time over the description, but like I said, the description to me is often just as important as the pic, and sometimes it's even the real feature presentation. And if there's one thing I absolutely hate doing as a creator, it's compromising my vision. Maybe you know how it is, maybe you don't, as I've had a hard time describing this concept to people before, especially people with less experience in art, but you're not always telling the art piece what to be, it's telling you what to make, and when I feel the art piece is telling me what to do, the last thing I'm gonna do is back sass it and go "nah, I don't really FEEL like it" just because what it's telling me to do is harder or less convenient than I would like. Even if I just did it my way and people like it anyway, I'll still know what it's really supposed to be, and that's when I feel like I've failed. Maybe your opinion is different, but to me, an artist fails when they are either incapable or unwilling to properly bring their creative vision to life. And I mean *actually* incapable, because if the difference is just skill level, nothing's stopping you from practicing and building that up, not being skilled enough is not a failure. (But being so convinced it is that you give up, never practice, and create a self-fulfilling prophecy as a result IS) But in a specific circumstance like the one I was in, where the impact of the piece relied on time, and it was too late, then there was just no point in finishing it, I had failed, and nothing short of either a time machine or an Omnitrix with Chronosapien DNA unlocked could unfail it.
My friend Milkymoofficial convinced me to finish playing the game and finish drawing the pic afterwards, because what if the game sucks? Wouldn't it suck to make an ass of yourself wasting so much time and effort on fanart of a game that doesn't deserve it? Well, I did finish playing the game, and without going into any detail about it as I've already written enough here, let the fact that this pic is unfinished and none of the Kingdom Hearts art I've done afterwards specifically pertains to KHIII speak volumes about how I felt about it.
Maybe someday I'll go back and finish it, but if I do I'd have to start it all over again, largely because I feel I fucked Xion up a bit, this actually would have been the first time I ever drew her, so I didn't really know what I was doing, and it's been so long that there's little chance I'd ever be able to get back into the same zone I was in while shading Kairi, so what I already have done of her would look out of place next to Aqua and Xion.
With that out of the way, next is much more recent mermaid art of the LWA girls, that didn't go beyond the sketch because I just couldn't figure out what I was doing with the posing, with what I ended up with almost making them look trapped in a fish tank, which could be a kinky concept, but I just wasn't feeling it. If the KHIII pic was an example of having a distinct creative vision that I would sooner see the pic unfinished than budge on, then this is an example where even the pic itself was being apathetic and not directing me much, like it wasn't feeling itself either. And that's another thing that happens sometimes, you can't always summon spontaneous inspiration. So I very well might do the LWA girls as mermaids at some point, but the idea's gonna have to drag itself out of bed and show up for work first.
Next is a fat Atari girl, a sequel to the pic I did to commemorate reaching 2600 watchers on DeviantArt. I said ever since that I'd draw her again fatter when I reached 5200, which was the number of Atari's next console, and did that sketch after eventually reaching that milestone. Just like the LWA pic, I just wasn't feeling it, I was doing it because I felt like I had to and not because I really wanted to, which makes the whole process feel much longer and more tedious than it already can be, I just felt like my time was better spent making a dent in my commission backlog rather than holding myself to something I said I'd do years ago that nobody but me and Milkymoo probably remembered anyway.
Next is a simple Dani Phantom pinup done much more recently, as in the past few months recently, to test a new coloring technique, curious if it was faster than how I would normally do a similar pic. I ended up not finishing it when I found that it wasn't really saving me any time. That information is what I was doing it for, I got what I was looking for out of it, there wasn't much reason to continue. But looking at it again, that's another one I might return to eventually, it would be nice to see it finished.
Next is art that actually was released publicly on my Tumblr back when it was still viewable. Shortly after the announcement of Smash Ultimate, hyped from the announcement, I went onto my copy of Smash 3DS, made Mii Fighters of my OCs, had them all set as CPUs, grouped into teams of two, and fought in a double-elimination tournament. The results of which were recorded with my crappy camera, (with the loud-ass fan of my crappy Windows 7 PC blaring in the background) and posted to Tumblr with the brackets in-between each video. There was too much to put in one Tumblr post, so I split it into four posts and then posted them in reverse order so that someone scrolling down would start at the beginning instead of the end. The winners of the winners bracket were Bianca Dread and Barb's AI counterpart B14NC4_DR34D, with Chloe and Green kicking ass up the losers bracket, ultimately winning the tournament, with this pic at the end of the post.
Next is a sequel to those Lammy BE pieces I did years ago, which was actually supposed to be a birthday gift for Milkymoo, which is why even the sketch isn't finished, as that's as far as I got before remembering that he's not really a boob guy, he's an ass guy, so I started over to do a butt-focused pic for him. This is another one I might go back to, start over again, and finally finish at some point because I haven't done a boob-focused Lammy since and I do like her facial expression here.
Next is a fusion of Morrigan, Splash Woman, and Samus that iirc I actually did long before the just Morrigan and Splash Woman fusion that I did finish and post. Originally I wanted to do a hexafusion with the three of them, started with the center fusion, resulting in a design that I just think is crap, it's kinda overdesigned, it looks like a bad stereotypical fandom OC, like it's just screaming "COPYRIGHTMEDONUTSTEEL!" The Morrigan and Splash Woman fusion I eventually did was an attempt to salvage the project by just separating the one design that was worth a damn and letting it be a standalone.
Next is Roll getting fucked from behind, but I never drew whoever was fucking her from behind. Who was supposed to be fucking her from behind? I don't remember. This is another one that maybe I'll finish. If anyone's got a suggestion I'd love to hear it.
Rui from Pokemon Colosseum getting fucked by a Shadow Gardevoir, unfinished because I just don't like the angle I chose, literally moments after finishing the sketch I thought it would look better as a behind shot, or possibly even animated, like it really needed the motion and momentum of the thrusts to be seen. So this is one I already intend to do again, just when I actually have time to do another animation.
Sticks the Badger BE, unfinished because Kojiro-Brushard already did it long before I even did that sketch, and he did it a shitload better than I could have. Hell, he did it better than I still could if I did it again. And this was around the time that I was starting to actually care about that. And yeah, I know there's no law saying that I can't do something someone else did, but if it's not better, or at least different enough, then I just don't see the point. Milky's always comparing it to cakes and just saying "let two cakes be two cakes" but I just don't see the point. If the two cakes are the same flavor but one's just so much better, then who's gonna care about the worse one?
And finally, starting with a Kingdom Hearts one, ending with a Kingdom Hearts one. The idea for this one was that, since she's visibly not a robot, that's not actually Zonta. In-universe, Zonta Industries owns Disney, so that's a Disney theme park face actor playing the in-universe cartoon character Zonta that the robot Zonta was built to look like, decked out in Kingdom Hearts gear to promote the release of Kingdom Hearts III. This was the result of taking Milky's advice to play the game first and then do fanart for it, feeling like the much bigger and more-detailed pic with my fullest 110% effort was just something the game didn't deserve, and starting that pic to give it a much simpler treatment more proportional to what it deserved. I didn't finish it because I stewed on the game more as I worked on it and found that I felt it didn't really deserve anything.
