Ah, yes. I was explaining to someone else just a little while ago; in the unwritten backstory for this vignette, there is a history between her and the starlet's mother. Taking the woman's daughter was a sort of punishment or retribution for something the mother did many years earlier.

Iβm desperately curious though: why a starlet? Surely there are many beautiful young models out there who are less high-profile for her to petrify? Or does she only collect the βhigh classβ of humanity?

I think the main thing shielding him is that he wouldn't make a very attractive statue, but you're right; if he gets too pushy, all bets are off ;)
