Another great post narrative episode. Have you got plans to talk about the Palaiologon renaissance? It would be a nice palate cleanser from the death & enslavement

I did some looking into this a while back. Based on Ottoman censuses, it looks like Romans probably made up an ethnic majority in Constantinople until some point in the 1460s.

Will the fall of the Morea and the story of Trebizond be included in the after-narrative? There are still Romans out there yet to be conquered. Trebizond had its own Hagia Sophia for example.

Yes, this episode was painfully sad. Ok, you're all slaves now and everything about your city is going to change. No bells allowed, would have hurt. The Genoese seemed to get a much better deal than the Romans overall though. So what happens to they population next? Is the city populated with Turks? A complete ethnic replacement or only partial? How different are the two populations now in physical appearance? Does the city undergo a complete software change? New language, new religion, new food, new laws?

Also since Notaras said that the turkish turban in the midst of the City is better than the papal mitre, he kinda got his way.

When I received the notification for this podcast episode I was listening to an episode of The Rest is History podcast about the second punic war and more specifically the aftermath of the battle of Canae. Men these romans can't get a break for once. A combination that did not bring joy for me this evening,

This one hurt alot more than I thought it would. I didn't even think about the fact that Constantinople was so depopulated that it was possible to move the entire population to a military camp
