The relevant parts of 40k lore get exposition, and if you know lore you might see some teasers or hints in chapters before things/people/places/events are formally introduced. And a lot of the ambiguous and unexplained parts of lore are interpreted by Antony as needed, because there's a LOT of unexplained and weird stuff in the lore. In many respects, this story is more digestible than Matt Ward source books.

Fish man I don’t fish

Personally I say you should watch a few 40k lore videos to get a basic understanding of the setting and the factions in it but if you don’t want to you should be able to enjoy it but you’re gonna be pretty confused occasionally

I mean we already know there are 3 competent members of the Alliance. Cypher, Bile, and the Navy Admiral. Ignore that 2 of the 3 do not actually actively want her dead

Silver Wolf

Assuming that part of the reason he joined was because he wanted to test his creations against Taylor. He can’t really do that if his allies (read patsies) all die before he can throw his new toys at Taylor. Granted, I’m sure the nobles with the Marines Malevolent are Vandire’s stooges, so hopefully the other members of the alliance are significantly more competent.

Jeremy

Why would Bile want to carry though. Unlike Abadon and others he is not really invested in the Long War or Chaos. Heck if I remember source correctly demons do not like being near him to begin with. This alliance is I believe for resources and to test some toys. Then he will go back to staying away from Taylor

Gabriel Meadow

I think everyone missed the important part: that Antony set us up to make the joke that Gabriela and Dennis hate sand - it's coarse, gritty, and it gets everywhere.

Thanks for the not teaser.

Assuming the Minotaurs aren't a cheap throwaway unit that Bile have to Vandire on a whim, it might slightly justify unleashing the Primaris unless the fools fumble the bag

Given that this is the Imperium, yes, yes they are that stupid

So, the inevitable climb to primacy of Nyx over Samarkand has occured. I think I can hear Vandire's tantrum as he receives the news from here... I guess there isn't much point in showing the reaction directly, we've seen a few of them already, and Vandire is already planning a direct military confrontation... It seems that the Drake Fleet will soon deliver Lord Peter some valuable intelligence, in the form of their no doubt soon to be "ex"-scouting Flotilla... I fear the Draik's "Ten Charters" will be... Zero, before all too long...

MacDoc-101

Pretty much, there may be some people you want to know more about for greater context but in general it hasn’t needed much 40k knowledge to be able to understand what’s going on

Zombie45

Figured this is as good a place as any to ask, I have no knowledge of 40k but I know Worm, would I be able to understand and enjoy this story?

Silver Wolf

Return of the intro, yay. Looks like things are headed to war in the Eye, (well more than usual) Perturabo doesn’t seem to have learned the lessons Emps took from the MoI Rebellion, Taylor’s seeks to make Vandire’s day worst, and the Marines Malevolent allies have already fucked up. Honestly Vashtor probably agreed to make the androids the way Perturabo wanted because it would served as a decent distraction for the Primarch when the inevitable betrayal happens. On another note, Vandire’s little alliance will either implode spectacularly or be hard carried by Bile.

El

One blessed day, Taylor is gonna go to Terra and met Vandire. It will be declared a holy day in the Imperium. (Seriously, are they that stupid ?)

Well Marines malevolent are 100% going on the Excommunicate Traitoris list eventually when all is said and done if they don't have a miraculous change of heart by the end of the Weaver's Triumph.
