Tool-less guide rod will work with a bushing barrel only if the spring plug tunnel in the slide is machined so the spring plug can come out the back. Usually, the spring plug tunnel for a standard spring plug/bushing barrel system has a small shoulder at the rear. Quick check to see if its compatible or not, if not, the slide would need some machine work.

Springfield makes some of the best production 1911’s on the market. Period. Point. Blank. They probably don’t want to put a mag well on it because they reserve that for the TRP guns. Then again, they don’t make the TRP that’s optic ready… yet. It’s an easy enough install aftermarket. I find it humorous that you like a FLGR when Hilton Yam likes the GI system. Neither opinion is bad. In the end, I’m reminded that I need to clean my TRP because I forgot how many rounds have been through it since I last did so, and I don’t want it to start choking on me.
