“What are you up to now, darlin?” I croak through a dry mouth.
After that video I didn’t think sleep was going to be possible, but somehow I’d actually managed to grab some shut eye in the end. Then pointing at the whiteboard she says. “Points will be tallied through the evening with bonus points added at the host’s discretion.” Patting her chest she adds. “I’m the host. Everyone good so far?”

“Great.” She continues. “The first round will be trivia. Each right answer will gain your team a point. With each wrong answer the other team will be given the chance to steal that point. The trivia round will end at 10 pm with a fifteen minute break afterward. The second round will be pictionary, I’m assuming everybody knows how to play that.” Nodding heads all around. “This time you will get two points for each correct answer. Again the other team can steal if you guess wrong. Round 2 will end at 11 pm with another fifteen minute break after. And finally we round out the evening with that old classic charades. For this round each correct guess will get your team three points and once more…”
“The other team can steal.”
“Very good, Jimmy! Gold star.” Casey praises him like she would a child to more chuckles. For his part James was eating it up like a natural class clown. “Round 3 will end at 11:45. Points will be tallied and the winner declared. In the event of a draw the winner will be decided by two out of three rock-paper-scissors.”
“And what do we win, Casey?” James asks in a cheesy game show host voice.
“Glad you asked, Jimmy.” She says. “The team captain of the losing side will owe the team captain of the winning side anything that their heart desires.”
As one the whole group goes. “Awwww.”
“David, you are captain of Team Bear.”
“Go Bears!” James hoots while Maria claps.
“Sarah, you will are captain of Team Bunny.”

“We will destroy you.” Javi brags.

“Alright, alright. Settle down you rowdies” Casey brings order to the room. “Round 1, Trivia.”
“So we’ve started?” Asks James.
“James!” Casey barks. “At least let me get the first question out.”
“Oh, right. Heh heh heh. Sorry.”
Without any call of who was heads and who was tails she flips a coin and points to me. “Bear goes first.” She places her phone on the table and opens an app. “Two minutes on the timer.” Pulling the first trivia card from the box she brings it up to her face and reads it aloud. “Besides the Echidna this reclusive monotreme is the only other mammal known to lay eggs.” With that she hits the timer.

“Times up.” Casey says. “One minute to steal.” She starts the timer again and points to the other team. Maybe that was too difficult.” Placing the card beside the box she give is a pat. “Let’s just leave that one an open question. Bonus point if anybody wants to answer it later.”

Just re-reading ... "Isn't he handsome?" ... see, that's the little things in Grim's writing that make it a better story.
