A Simple Life: Chapter 173
🕑 Added 2024-09-27 19:31:14 +0000 UTCSoftly humming the bubbly tune Alley Cat I bop around the kitchen in just moccasins, panties, and one of Winona’s t shirts while preparing breakfast. As I knew it would my butt was feeling the aftereffects of the night before and ohhhh did it make me feel sexy. Every time that I twisted or bent just so I was blessed with a niggling reminder of last night’s incredible lovemaking and brought all those warm, steamy memories back in a flash. Weaving through my feet as I danced Brutus joined in on the fun.
As the eggs begin to sizzle I hear a rustle and mumble from beneath the covers of the bed announcing Winona’s surfacing to the waking world.
“Mrrmm.” She groans as she pulls the covers down from her face to rub her sleepy eyes. When she blinks them open to look at me I am ready with a beaming smile. I just loved how it made her smile too despite her groggy resistance.
“Good morning!” I twirl toward the window, purposely letting the t shirt whirl up to give her a peek below, and fling the curtains open wide then hurry to the bed to greet my lover with a kiss.
“Mmmm.” She gazes up at me with those stunning hazel eyes. “Good morning to you too.”
I sneak in another smooch then slip out of her grasp before she could envelop back into the bed like a snuggling amoeba. “The eggs’ll b-burn!” I giggle as I hurry back to the stove to give the eggs a flip.
For a time Winona just lays there with this funny little grin on her face as she watches me resume my humming, dancing, and breakfast making. She was having a moment and so was I. Last night had been another building block on the edifice that would be our lives together but it was simple, happy moments like this that provided that mortar between the bricks.
By the time I am assembling the meal Winona is up and coming in behind me.
“What’s for breakfast?” She asks, not even looking at the counter. Lifting the back of the t shirt she ogles my tush. “Mmmm! Booty sandwich!”
“Not that!” I titter and playfully push her hand away. “No booty for you until t-tomorrow. You’re on a b-booty diet for today.”
“Pfff!” Wrapping me up in a hug from behind she kisses my cheek. “You sore, baby?”
“Just a little.” I wriggle back into her warm body, teasing her fading morning wood with my forbidden fanny.
“Mmmm.” She plants another big smooch against the side of my head and gives me an extra hard squeeze. “You smell good.”
“He he he!”
A few minutes later we are sitting across from each other nibbling our meals, sipping our hot drinks, and playing footsie under the table as Brutus did his level best to wrestle our feet apart.
“Ready for the game tonight?” I ask.
“Nope!” She says. “I’ve been too busy this week wooing my sweetie to do much planning.”
I laugh. “G-Good you’ve got your priorities right.”
She winks. “Damn right. I’ll be ready though. I’ve got a general plan I just need to work out a couple of details.”
“I can’t wait!” I say. “For the game and s-seeing everyone in their costumes.”
“Ha! I know. It’s gonna be awesome.”
“I’ll p-pop back to the apartment this morning to make sure Brayden didn’t leave the place a mess.” I say. “He probably did. I n-need to grab some stuff and talk to him anyway.”
“Cool, cool.” Just then the sound of an approaching vehicle announces the arrival of Papa Crow. “Ugh.” Winona rolls back in her computer chair. “I guess I that means I gotta put pants on.”
“The worst.” I titter as I as well get up to get something over my legs. Leaning out the open window I watch Amos come striding around the side of the building carrying a car tire in each hand like they were nothing. “Morning Amos.”
“Mornin Avery.” He says cheerily. Catching a whiff of our breakfast on the breeze he walks straight past the door to come up to the window. “We’ve got a take out window now?”
I giggle. “Sure! What’ll ya have, S-Sir?”
“Well…I’ll start with half a dozen eggs…”
“We’re fresh out.” Winona shuts him down. “And it’s cash only, no tires.”
“Oh?” He says with a smirk. Twirling one in the air he catches it again. “You don’t want them then?”
“Me?”
He looks at me. “You need any tires?”
“Um, no.” I say.
“Yeah, must be for you then.”
“Those won’t fit the truck.”
“But they will fit the car.”
“What car?”
“Hey, if you’re forfeiting the bet I’ll take that steak dinner tonight.”
“The project car? Dad!” She jogs up to inspect one of the tires. “You’re not supposed to be helping me. It won’t be as fun when I win. Woah, Michelin? Hey, these are in good shape.”
“Right?” He grins. “A cool hundo. I couldn’t not buy them.”
“Per tire?”
“For the set.”
“What!? No way!”
“Nobody bargains like your old man.” He says with pride. “It was daylight robbery. I almost felt guilty. Almost. So that’ll be a c note for the tires and two hundred for delivery.”
“Fifty.”
“One fifty.”
“Delivery shouldn’t be more than the product.” She says. “A hundred.”
“Deal.”
“Deal.” A shake seals the agreement. “Your budget’s down to 1800. Still gonna be tricky.”
“Easy.”
“The other two are in the car.”
“Right.” Slapping her hands down on the sill she hurdles out the window and jogs off to get the tires.
Though he tries to play it cool I saw the smile come out as he watched his excited daughter go and I realize that him bringing these tires had nothing to do with their wager. It filled with hope and joy and made me want to talk to the special man in my life. As Amos and Winona do their thing and get ready for whatever work they were doing to day I find my phone and give my Grandpa a call.
“There’s my Buttercup!” Grandpa answers.
“Hi G-Grandpa.” I am smiling from ear to ear.
“How was last night? How was the shopping?”
“R-Really good. Really, really good.” I trace my finger around the quirky gift that I’d bought him that I had resting on my lap. “We had so much fun.”
“You found everything you wanted?”
“Mm hm.” There’s a pause as he waits for me continue. “Um…I just wanted to h-hear your voice.”
“Well it is good to be heard.”
I sigh, feeling so full of love that I thought I might cry. “You gonna be around later? I’d l-like to tell you about last night.”
“If you’re comin I’ll be here, Buttercup. Got a ballpark?”
“Lunch?”
“Lunch! I'll pencil you into my busy itinerarium.”
“He he he!”
“I love ya, kiddo.”
“I love you too, Grandpa.”
From there I fill and hang the hummingbird feeder, do the dishes, get dressed in my work clothes from yesterday, then step out into a new day. The way this past week had gone I couldn’t help but wonder what adventures today would bring.
After smooches I am saying my goodbyes. “I’m gonna zip into town and deal with that stuff. I’m meeting Grandpa for lunch.”
“Say hi to Mike for me.”
“I w-will Amos.” I say. “You’re sure you want me to take your car? I c-c-can take my bike.” Knowing that I wanted to bring some stuff back with me Winona had asked her dad if I could borrow his SUV. As always, he was super cool about it.
“Take it!” He waves away my concern. “We got the truck here. I’ll call ya if I need it.”
“Okay.” Looking back to my girlfriend I say. “I’ve got the laundry. I can do it this afternoon if it’s okay w-with Cher.”
“I’ll talk to her.” Winona says. “Let her know you’re coming. Don’t go until I give you the okay.”
“Okay.” I say, not in any hurry to surprise Winona’s intimidating mother by showing up at her door unannounced.
“Aw, great!” Amos groans. “If she sees your guy doing housework she’s gonna get ideas.”
“You do chores! Badly, but you do them.”
“Yeah.” He points at me. “But not like he will, and not with a smile on my face. Don’t set the bar too high there, Avery. Remember the rest of us, huh?”
“I will.” I chuckle.
Looking at Winona I pause to just stare a moment. “Have a g-good day.”
“I will, baby.” She hugs me tight. “You too.”
Soon I am cruising down the highway for town. It was an overcast day but in my mood I could only see blue skies in all directions. Little did I know of the big, dark storm cloud waiting for me at the apartment. I had just stepped out of the car and locked it behind me when I hear the very last voice on this island that I wanted to hear.
“There you are, little brother.”
