My elementary school just told us slavery was over because MLK killed it which is already super fucked up but teachers chasing kids as plantation owners pretty much glorifying it is so fucked up. There was literally slave day in our elementary school and the kids dressed ass slaves and you have to run away and not get caught by the plantation owners or grim reaper who were all played by teachers. And yes I live in ATL, GA. Broooo

I grew up in South Carolina, took at least 3 field trips to plantations. I remember Boonhall the most. We got fake Confederate dollar bills, and they loaded up some old muskets and shot them, we toured some of the inside of the masters home, and basically had free range to play outside for a while. I was in 1st or 2nd grade, I remember climbing around on these short cement walls, most of them were eroding. But there was a bunch of these maybe 10 ft by 10 ft square plots of land with little walls bordering them. There was a team of archeologists setting up some type of string grid on top of one of them, I asked what they were doing and they told me they were going to be excavating graves essentially. The squares were where they buried slaves once they died. They were mass grave sites, and all over. Me and plenty of other students were playing in them for hours, had no idea what they were, and noone even stopped us.
