This follows the story of Iris Vansi Valoisin and Prince Gottfried Jabara.
She is a fallen noble woman reduce to a life of entertaining the victors after her city's failed rebellion. She uses her charm, her lies, her cunning and will, to not only survive, but thrive. Still, there was no real chance for 'improvement'. Gottfried Jabara, the son of the Empire's hammer and sword, the mother of terror, Eniera Jabara, sister of the Emperor, is the man who put down that rebellion.. Famed as a godsheir gladiator, the strongest man in the world, he is trapped in a life he didn't ask for and from which there is no respite.
The chance meeting between the highest in society and the lowest will engulf them both in a conflicting whirlwind of desires, fears, frustrations and conspiracy that will challenge the very fate of the empire itself.
