Update! - THE ROAD AHEAD

With two new videos out, and a few in the pipeline, it feels great to be back! Surprised at the positive reception too. Genuinely figured YouTube woulda killed my channel after so long. Glad to see that wasn’t the case.
I wanted to give you guys a feel for how I’m trying to evolve this Patreon from its previous incarnation so you’re all kept in the loop.
CH-CH-CH-CHANGES
Back in the day, Patrons would be charged per “big upload” instead of on a monthly basis. I felt this was fairest path to take because I didn’t want people to feel ripped off if a month with no uploads went by.
This worked in theory, but I’m very conscious about charging people money for anything. Sometimes I’d spend a long time on something and arbitrarily decide to not charge for it cuz it felt like viewers wouldn’t consider it a “big enough upload,” or because I didn’t want to charge people twice in one month if I happened to post a lot.
I’m gonna be moving to a more traditional monthly model, while reducing the prices for the higher tiers to compensate for the shift. I feel like this’ll give the channel structure, feel more predictable, and incentivize more involvement with patreon as a whole. It also keeps me accountable. Can’t vanish for months at time in good conscience if I’ve got active supporters to attend to.
This change won’t go into effect until December 31st, so don’t worry! Nobody’s getting charged out of nowhere come Novembers end. Wanted to make sure I telegraphed that change well in advance.
THE CONTENT
So, what’s being funded by the Patreon if it’s not just the BIG occasional video? The answer is ultimately STILL those big videos. They take time. Planning. Coordination. But in the mean time, they’ll go towards -
- Ray Gun Recap - Highly Edited Current Events Comedy Videos recapping 3 separate stories in one video (sometimes political, sometimes not.) EXAMPLE
- Weird Wide Web - Highly edited comedy videos about a particular internet oddity or focused subject. EXAMPLE
- Glasses Off - Low key, semi-edited, real talks about subjects that I feel deserve somewhat of a deeper dive than is possible on a Recap (sometimes political, sometimes not.) EXAMPLE
- Ray Gun Retrospectives - Highly edited essays about video games/media. EXAMPLE
- THE ONE OFF - This isn’t the name of this “show” or anything, but hard to describe. Highly edited random hyper-specific fascinations that don’t fit into any other category. EXAMPLE
THE PERKS
No, not percs. I’ll be posting behind the scenes stuff here like old script drafts of videos you’ve already seen (and some you haven’t) to give a glimpse into how the script changes from written to final edit (I’m a nerd and think that stuff is fun.) Videos will go live early on Patreon before they go live on YouTube, as well. More perks will come as I flesh this out, but I wanna kickstart this bitch nice and simple.

Glad to see you back! I'm not really a podcast guy, so when you started focusing more on Snark Tank / LSM you kind of disappeared from the internet for me. Your videos have always been great, been watching since I was in high school back in 2016. It's wild to think about how long that's been. I will say, re: the outlined future of your videos: I do wonder if the Recap format could use some tooling around with. They're fun videos, but I'm not sure that "highly-edited comedy" and "contemporary commentary" can ever really mesh, by the time they're done a lot of the topics are old news. You don't really have to change what you're doing, but emphasizing that you're talking about topics you find interesting, even if they've passed the limelight, might make more sense.
