The original Ace Attorney games were on the Game Boy Advance in Japan. and we only got the DS ports in 2005 or so. I THINK the version of Objection 2004 was the GBA version, but it's hard to tell.

“I don’t remember ace attorney sounding like this”. Ironically, you’ve mostly been listening to the modern Ace attorney themes, this is what the OG games sounded like. Very 16-bit and retro a lot of the time.
