The farming industry has gotten deeply fuckin depressing, from age 13 to age 37 I have been either directly or indirectly involved in it and the most jarring thing (besides unloading the chicago poop train to spread the ethanol corn fields), was from my first job at 13 detassling sweet corn, till my last job in illinois slinging shit and hauling lime and ethanol corn, to finally settling in a mostly anabaptist valley in south central PA where its a lot more small ag operations and more "traditional" farming...the amount of industrialuzation and commercialization of it and the loss of traditions (Some good, some immensely horrific) in the span of a few generations. I live in town with my small family and do local trucking to make ends meet but between the prospect of having to have a bidding war with local mennonites or with private equity douchbags that are trying to move in pretty much means I am more likely to never get to do any real farming of any scale beyond raising a few sheep and goats on my wifes family homestead...i mean its all just fuckin gone, it sucks. Most "farmers" with a few exceptions I personally know are basically glorified equipment operators exploited by ADM. CHS and the like, or are in real estate now bc selling their land is the only option thanks to meddling in the co-op boards. Now they made it nigh impossible to get vital meds for livestock bc a few idiots misused them...probably not the first nor the last pissed of farmer rant you will hear but...ugh. buy local!! Fuck monsanto, fuck del monte, fuck purdue...its a long list...tyson also can get fucked!!!
