We create our world one decision at a time.
We all have goals.
Those that succeed have goals.
Those that fail do to.
We all have moments to celebrate and moments that nearly tear our hearts out.
Our only control — our only real power — is how we choose to act in this moment — this one single now. And then the next now when it shows up.
The folks who’ve achieved their goals are the ones who use their nows well.
Not on the latest fire that need putting out.
No.
They choose to use lots of their nows on the actions that will clearly move them towards their goal — towards the full potential we all came into this world realize!
So, I dare you…
Each morning, for the first 20 minutes of the day, take uninterrupted action on . . .
. . . the important thing . . .
. . . that will move you even a little closer to that creative powerful you are meant to be…
Let’s say the goal is, oh I don’t know, skillful Figure Drawing!
So . . .
Sketch in the lowest pressure way you can think of because you need to kickstart your drawing practice or…
Practice Kneecaps for 15 minutes, because they give you so much trouble or . . .
Study Caravaggio because you want his drama in your work or…
Get the idea?
Train your brain like it’s a little puppy. Train it to do one small right action right now.
And when we trains puppies, we do it with love. We do it with tons of praise.
That way, the puppy feels safe and wants to come back and repeat that right action in the next now.
Do that for yourself . . .
The secret to success is as simple as that. It really is.
Cherish your nows!
And do it until suddenly, you notice you are exactly where you always wanted to be. And then, keep doing it. Your puppy will thank you, I promise.
Being where you want to be is what I wish for you, my friend . . .
