Suggested Homework:
Using the reference provided, practice both types of poses using the various ways to base the figure off the triangle design.

When teaching figure drawing I always insisted that the base (stool, chair, couch) be drawn or at least suggested. I’d cross my legs and bend my knees and mimic a mime sitting in mid air as an example of what not to do. Imagine if the draped box Eve is sitting on in your example were yanked away (i.e. not drawn). She’d tumble backwards right on to her bum. I think we’re unmindful to the idea of a chair/support because we’ve seen so many famous master drawings without them.
