Call of the Canijo
🕑 Added 2023-10-22 21:22:58 +0000 UTCHere is another of the stories I have written for the forthcoming Old West anthology, and another based on a Zane Grey story "Call of the Canyon". My foonote is unfinished because I could not find a review I once read of a movie version of the story. It was not a shoot-em-up western but rather an introspective by Grey. It was not one of his 3 gender-bender westerns that drew me back to his material. Can anybody help?

That would be the silent film I am guessing. I have never seen it.

Maryanne, an article about the rediscovery of the 1923 film and its donation to the Library of Congress in 2010. https://www.redrocknews.com/2010/11/03/russians-return-the-call-of-the-canyon/. Some info on why it was filmed in Sedona, Arizona and Zane Grey's control over his work's film rights. Hope it's of interest.
