July Art Round-Up
🕑 Added 2023-08-15 01:34:23 +0000 UTCNow that we’re halfway through August, let’s catch up on all the shit I made in July!
After spending hours and hours (and hours) cutting out, sewing together, and lacing up my stays pieces (it’s sort of like a corset) using shitty fabric as practice, I finally got to cut out the same pieces again but on my nice, fancy fabric!
Not gunna lie, this was a SPACE CAMP-heavy month.
Last year I finished the first draft of my memoir about my month in the mental health program at the hospital. In order to trick a publisher into buying it, my agent said I need to show them a sample chapter of what the finished product will look like- all cleaned up and edited and nicely drawn. So! That is how I spent my July (and first half of August)!
- SPACE CAMP: The Revisioning 🔒 Patrons Only
The original chapter I chose was a simple 16 pages long, but after some script editing and expanding single pages into multiples so the art had more room to breathe, I now had a whopping 22 pages. This post tracked the process of turning one very-cramped page into four much better written and visually spacious pages.
Aaaaaand here’s how all those revised pages turned out:
- Pages 1 - 5 🔒 Patrons Only
- Pages 6 - 10 🔒 Patrons Only
- Pages 11-15 🔒 Patrons Only
- Pages 16-18 🔒 Patrons Only
- Pages 19-22 🔒 Patrons Only
Aw, what the hell. I like your face. Here’s a whole page from the updated chapter:
See? Memoirs about being in the mental hospital aren’t all just a complete bummer! We get some jokey-jokes in there too!
Till next month (which is two weeks away)!
