2023 in Review

January
man, I woke up bone tired. This whole last week my brain has been absolute mush. So I thought I'd go through my photo archive and that would prompt me to remember this year which would inspire me to start writing. But
February
I think this is the best I can do right now: a year of my garden.
March
2023 was a good year.
April
I had some adventures with friends. I made a lot of cool art. I made progress on my comic.
A day later in April (Dug out that pie slice of lawn)
I pushed myself to learn normal adult skills that terrify me in a truly bizarre way (cooking and driving). I exercised at home regularly and even started riding my bike again.
May
There were some really challenging experiences in 2023 and while I wish we could have skipped them, I at least appreciate that they made me think long and hard about what is most important to me (my relationships).
June
Oh hey, I turned 40 on June 25th! That was kind of a big deal for me.
July (Matt built that middle grow box as a birthday gift while I was out of town)
So, yeah. Some stuff sucked but overall I'm looking back on 2023 with fondness. It was a whole-ass year.
August (heatwave, hence umbrella and other fabric drapings that aren't immediately visible)

October
I'm somebody who enjoys doing a whole retrospective on my year and documenting my hopes and dreams for the next one, but, like I said, I've been mush-brained all week. It would be cool if I do this in the first couple weeks of January, but, eh. If it doesn't happen, that's ok, too. The next year will come and go just like all the other ones, I'll still experience all of it even if I haven't done my little annual rituals in advance.
November
I will say that it has been a genuine pleasure this year connecting with you guys here. The last decade, I really put up a lot of barriers so I wouldn't be as accessible to the general public, and it's just been real pleasant being able to openly interact with people like back in the day before the internet was scary. It's like... Old Fun Internet. Thanks for making the internet nice again.
December
In 2023 I'm looking forward to gardening. I'm looking forward to making art. I'm looking forward to spending time, both IRL and online, with the people I care about. I'm looking forward to experiencing another year! That's such an incredible gift.

It never ceases to flatter me that you remember me! I'm always like "oh no does she think "oh god it's that weird stalker from college who is always almost *too* excited to interact with me?'" 😅 I feel like I have the energy of a doggo trying to be real good and sit but obviously VISIBLY AGITATED AT HAVING TO CONTAIN MY EXCITEMENT.
