Deleted Post Round-Up (01/13/25)

Overall I think deleting is good and often wise to do, but there was probably some stuff I didn't necessarily need to delete. So today I'm going to review a few of my many deletions.

Why'd I Delete it: I think I felt like it was a bit derivative; the setup feels a bit like a type of joke Patrick Doran (@lunch_enjoyer) would make around then. There's not much complexity to the joke either, it's sorta coasting on that Tim and Eric weird old guy humor.
Did I Need To Delete It: Nah it's fine. Not one of my best jokes but I like the shadowy crispy art and I think his Breaking Benjamin poster is a funny and lived in detail.

Why'd I Delete It: I feel insecure about my hand drawn art sometimes, especially when it's not in service of a solid joke. This and the Nephew Peanut Butter pic above were posted around the same time, and I think I was kinda trafficking in stuff then that had a general silliness but didn't always reach Certified Funny Status.
Actually, on second thought, I think this one could've worked with a couple more panels. Like, what's the other guy thinking? His attitude about all of this is essential.
Did I Need To Delete It: I didn't need to per se, but I think it makes sense that I did. I like the completely empty Kohl's parking lot though.

Why'd I Delete It: This was probably the bleakest time in the pre-vaccine Covid era for me. I was living in LA and feeling unbearably cooped up and depressed, and I wanted to make art about how I was feeling, but I also could tell that other people on the net were really sad too and I didn't want to bum people out. I didn't get a lot of likes initially when I posted it (probably just cuz it's pretty abstract) but I got anxious and trashed it.
Did I Need To Delete It: No! I like the music and the weird text overlays and all the strange little edits. The second half has a kinda horrible feeling that I love. I think it's cool and I wish I had left it up. At least I bounced back with New Friend Pts 1 & 2 a month later.

Why'd I Delete It: I made my posts about the Funny Jelly and my pet Drufus over the two days prior to this one, and I immediately felt like I'd dropped the ball with this one. I like skin blob's movements and I like that it takes place in the Funny Jelly basement, but it skews really slapstick where the other two have a nice mix of comedy and uncanny horror. I think the music is funny in its own right but too bright and ridiculous for where I ended up wanting to take this series, and the blob's discharge is way too smooth and glossy compared to the photorealistic textures of the other posts.
Did I Need To Delete It: Yes, unfortunately. Sorry skin blob.

I really like this as a Patreon thing. It’s cool to deconstruct your own stuff with the perspective of time. It’s cool to lock something away in a cabinet and then discover it much later. I was just going through some old music projects lately and own reactions ping ponged between the instant recognition of “oh I remember why I abandoned this” to a more hazy feeling of “I don’t who made this…BUT I’M LOVIN’ IT”

The text effects in Went on a walk are amazing. I'm always blown away by how good you are at emulating what it feels like to think and dream. I love seeing the thorough critical thought you put into your art!
