I almost never drink sugared soft drinks now (because I have developed a problematic and financially damaging relationship with La Croix) but the other day at BBQ place I thought "What the hell, a Coke. It's probably been three years since I had one." My mouth tissues absorbed the brown elixir before I could even swallow, and the dopamine blast to my brain was on the level of an eighth grade nicotine hit. Probably the best thing I have ever tasted in my life.

I love that Lileks is still known and celebrated. I got to hang out with him in Minneapolis last year and wish I could have just moved in next door to him—he is an utter classic wit. But goddam, those winters.

I remember once Jim Lileks found these fluids "bewitching"! To me that was like when John Lennon jammed with Chuck Berry, but with no screeching Yoko.

It’s still going, but I’m a hands-off part owner. Insulin-invisible sweet things are still incredibly expensive to produce at commercial scale.

You're still up and running with this, correct? Like Bob Cassidy's Stock Option, it is a great idea a little ahead of its time. Hard to make a margin in foodstuffs because of the overhead, but it's a great example of "see a need, fill a need."
