Hooray. It did really happen and wasn't just in my head. I have been using the name CortJstr online since 93 or 94

Andrew Eason

I would take these guys on a nice aqua colored tie. It would be my secret joy that I knew what they were thinking.

BootsMcGuffin

In 2002 I was in the 8th Grade living in a town of 1000 people. I was in my tiny school's band class and wrote an article about my nextdoor neighbor for an English project. I spent a lot of time riding my bike and playing some ancient low-res RPG called Exile III (shout out Spiderweb Softw.) My favorite band was U2, because that terrible Vertigo album hadn't happened yet. I remember feeling bored a lot, but it was actually a pretty chill scene.

tossrock

You got the callout!

Theo Freedom

In 2002, I graduated from high school, spent the summer playing too much Animal Crossing on GameCube and making out with my girlfriend at weekday matinees of the first Spiderman movie, and headed off for college in a small Midwestern river city in the fall. It seemed dreary at the time, but man... I don't think it really was!

Nicholas Williams

In 2002 I saw Yeah Yeah Yeahs open for The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and I literally don’t think I can remember anything else from that year.

Gavin Byrnes

I was 13, not yet reading Achewood. I believe that this was the era in which I was memorizing decent chunks of the Bill James New Historical Baseball Abstract and reading Total Baseball for fun.

Distant Egg Song

I was 10 and I generally thought that the Internet was slow and boring, so I would have not read Achewood for two separate reasons. That being said, man, this most recent arc is really putting the "I should take Philippe under my wing" line into a decidedly sad light.

Tom PM

Nobody makes resolutions anymore. The 00s called...

b.zap

I was commuting to Page Mill Road and smarting over the stupid World Series. Also in a C&W band, of all things. Man x10, things are so much better these days, even if they're not.

Susan O'Connor

Hell yes I read these the first time around. I am waiting for my 1957 Great Outdoor Fight poster to get back from the framers. I think of Ray dancing to "Africa" at least once a week. Achewood forever. How do you do fellow kids

C C

2002 I was recovered from my first dance with cancer, I had been out of the kitchen for two years. I had spent my life in restaurants since I was 10 years old. I was now in my early thirties and trying to figure out how other people worked and lived.

Stavro

I shall ignore the specifics of the prompt... I think in December 02 I was still a few months away from finding Achewood, so this is brand new to me and a delightful treat

lohohonez

never kegel and reverse pinch simultaneously

Kyle McCowin

2003 I think is when Achewood fandom moved from Dumbrella to TOUAMB. I'm still at the same job I was then. I was definitely subscribed to Serializer. I'm 99% sure there was a Serializer strip that made fun me specifically with a knockoff of my username. I hope to see that one again. I think you called me AbnrmlJstr or something like that

Ben Wissett

I was 17 and I rocked big muttonchops. Looked like a tit. Teodor makes me cringe in recognition of how I used to be at that age.

Patrick Scanlon

The first panel would look great in a frame by itself!

J Hardy Carroll

Oh man this is just classic. The characters really come alive. I like how Lyle abstains from both exercise and resolution. Also, blood-bread looks a lot like cake. Just sayin

Jacquelyn R Walters

Ugh, 2002. I was 22 and struggling with depression. Dropped out of grad school, went back to my crappy retail job selling fancy dishes and figurines at the mall, got dumped by my boyfriend. Late that year I got a job at a call centre providing customer care for an American cell phone provider. Ask me if that helped my depression. (Things got better, but not in 2002!)

Julie (HiDeeHoGal)

HELLO. In 2002 I was 28 years old. That year contained my first divorce from an abusive piece of shit, but I also had a delightful 5-year-old daughter to occupy my time. I think I made all of 31K that year but I was already working from home. In 2002 money that was pretty okay even without the WFH benefit. And then I met a pretty okay guy who would turn out to be my second husband. So it was a pretty okay year for me, all things considered.

Anthony Thompson

You got to be family sometimes tho. And if rb is on showbiz then he isn’t on himself, which is on-brand.

Matthew Harris

The compression gives Ray stubble and I don't know how I feel about it

Adam Whybray

I was having panic attack about taking my GCSE French oral exam and full-on surrendering to OCD compulsions - but also playing a lot of interactive fiction and discovering webcomics! (I suspect I was reading 'White Ninja Comics', 'Dinosaur Comics' and 'A Softer World' and would discover 'Achewood' the following year!)

Michael Akey

2002 I had 3 babies under 4 years old and was up to my eyeballs in diapers and spit up and was a struggling stay at home dad. Shit was getting real. Real fast.

Michael Akey

Bloodbread is a delicacy

Eric Manschot

Oh Beef, no one can help Showbiz

Chris Onstad

Only once. My great failing as an author was to allow him this.

Chris Onstad

Of course dogg!

Chris Onstad

Talkin HELL of ignorant, HATING typing class or French

bbbbb

I was 15 and raring to drop out of high-school and lose a decade listening to the most ignorant hardcore punk I could get my hands on.

Doctor Link

I never want to hear the term “reverse pinch” again, you words-monster.

Erik Newman

Back in aught two I think I could still read most things without having to reverse pinch

Alex Ruppel

2003 was a time I was a highschool knucklehead

Aaron J. Rushton

Was this prompted by the post in the group remembering this thing?

Jarret Cooper

Well it would seem Téodor, at least, came through…
