(shit)...shows, and even as an un-dramaturgical fifteen-year-old I could tell there was lots of padding to come up with forty-eight minutes of material. In retrospect, it seems safe to guess there was more snorting than writing going on.

This was Richard Pryor's variety show[!], which was on CBS for four weeks in late summer of 1977 on NBC at 8pm on Tuesdays[!!}. That meant it was opposite Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley at their ratings peak, i.e. the network TV equivalent of a suicide mission. I watched all four
Chris Onstad
For being a serial killer, he sure doesn’t make the news much. This…*frustrates* him.
Chris Onstad
Yeah I mean at his core his curse is that in all his ambitions he’s just a frustrated, derivative hack.
Chris Onstad
Yeah he’s kind of phoning this one in tbh
Chris Onstad
Thanks for getting me to look up jenkem…sheesh
Chris Onstad
🎶Dog Doo🎶 [You just got doo-rolled]
Chris Onstad
Imagine how cute though, little early Beatles wig
Chris Onstad
I mean right now it’s just vapor ware

Great video, could EASILY have been edited from seven minutes to one minute. I guess back in the seventies they burned time like it was oil

Rob Dalton
Brings to mind the two-word review of Spinal Tap's seminal* album "Shark Sandwich."
Ian Stewart
His last mass-attention scheme with internet voting and the automated knife ended up with him as the only injured party... I could definitely see him incapacitating himself attempting to manufacture poo-gas, but he never stays out of the game for long...
Ian Stewart
Heart button for responding to this post is inappropriate, needs a poo emoji
Ian Stewart
My excited mirth has indeed been loosened
Sedric And Charlie
Nice Pete's expecting a lot if he intends to get Todd into a bulky brown turtleneck and pressed slacks

Pete gets it. My biggest complaint about every concert I've been to was returning home alive.
Anthony Thompson
Like someone described a Joker comic to him

Perhaps Pete's real instrument is the container of legendary 'jenkem' he has created.
Zen Window
nice pete must be putting a lot of himself into the songs because he never struck me as an area of effect sort of guy but im absolutely fine with not understanding the inner workings of his head because to invite that kind of sympathy into my house risks getting bloody bootprints all over everything
Julie (HiDeeHoGal)
At first, yes, I did giggle in anticipation. By the end though, I was making the same face as Roast Beef. I said, "Oh." I closed the file. Oh.
Taylor
Killing a bunch of people from a distance using poison gas doesn’t seem like Nice Pete’s style, too impersonal. But I guess artists have to try new things to grow
Walter Biggins
Pete’s concert closer both sent chills up my spine & made me laugh hard—mostly because we all know this won’t get off the ground to do any real damage. Right, Onstad? RIGHT?
