The entire genesis of that mortadella appetizer was that I saw some mortadella while I was shopping for the other appetizers, and I like mortadella a lot

Congratulations you two, not just on the wedding but on the ongoing and upcoming rest of your life. Plus and also, Knockwurst and Mortadella for two of the three apps? That's balls Onsted, balls

Wait til the honeymoon. If you thought you were already tired of jpgs of empty paper coffee cups, you have no idea what hell is in store.

Chris Onstad

Thank you Mr. M!

Chris Onstad

we got my ring inscribed with the line, "This will be our year," so, indeed.

Off to bella Napoli soon, to visit La Lega Nervosa (deep beef zine cut, if it sounds too obscure)

DONE. MARRIED. WHERE IS MY NEWSPAPER.

Chris Onstad

self-contained and unflappable, almost bumbling professor, is what I've taken away from the few a/v bits I've seen of him.

Chris Onstad

Thank you! Her vows were equally apt but it was late and I didn't get her permission to publish them. Rest assured there was also the mention of power tools and endless renovation.

The details in these recs resonate well with me, thanks Dan! Exactly what I was hoping for. I'll be looking for that Genovese thing specifically.

Congratulations! It sounds like a lovely ceremony. I went to Naples last year and had a fantastic time and I've got some recs if you want, mostly for food around the Old City - the cultural/historic stuff I did is pretty much the kind of thing you'd see on a brief google of "stuff to do in [place]", though FWIW Pompeii really is as cool and worth the visit as about three thousand years of travel writers have claimed, and the Naples Underground is less of a tourist trap than it looks like. Anyway, the reccomendations: 1. Salumeria Upnea - classic Neopolitan food as designed and executed by almost-painfully-hip art kids (though way less insufferable than that sounds). Great food (and a nice variation from the standard trattorias you’ll see around), plus they have rotating displays of paintings by local artists up 2. Essencia - good, fancy tasting-menu type place, recommended by a local friend. Good choice if you want to try the local gloss on Michelin-bait small plates (which I do not mean as an insult) 3. La Taverna di Santa Chiara - fantastic trattoria; classic Neapolitan dishes, and the place is run by a family that sources fresh and in-season ingredients from farms in the region, but in a “keep prices down by cutting out the middleman” way, not a “farm-to-table with prices to match” way. Maybe the best meal I had in Naples, period 4. Gino e Toto Sorbillo - best pizza I had in Naples. The local friend I mentioned before says it’s his favorite in the city, though I didn’t try nearly enough to judge for myself 5. Caffe Diaz - Naples has fantastic coffee everywhere but this was my favorite (it probably helps that they roast their own beans in-house). They do a special house espresso that’s an old-school, high-robusta blend, don’t be tricked by the fact that it’s cheaper than their other coffees, it is absolutely the way to go 6. Not a specific restaurant, but a dish: there’s a common Neapolitan dish you’ll see on a ton of menus called ‘pasta genovese’ (despite the name it’s purely Neapolitan; it has nothing to do with Genova). It basically consists of beef stewed in a shitload of onions and nothing else, so the onions dissolve into a goopy, delicious mess. Think ragu if it had onion jam instead of tomatoes. Absolutely a must-try Also, this may or may not fit your itinerary, but there’s a very cool small island called Ischia that’s about an hour or two from Naples by boat. It’s a bit of a schlep for a day trip but it’s worth spending a night or two there if it can fit your schedule. They’re especially famous for their baths and spas, though it might be late enough in the year that they’ll all be closed.

Congrats! The photos are lovely. Your vows - just wow. So happy for the two of you.

Marvelous news, marvelous words, best of wishes to you. I saw Vonnegut lecture at MIT in 1985[?]; you picked a fine inspiration.
