I built it finally
🕑 Added 2020-09-23 10:34:23 +0000 UTCBut then I found out the cage is useless because the thickness of both cameras is different ...
The good thing of these stainless steel bars is you can build however you want like lego, so this is the second build.
But this one is a bit heavier and larger... and the worst thing is I need so much time for the preparation, like calibrate the angle and position manually, it just takes so much time, and each camera also fall a bit differently as time flow, maybe I need to tie them up with rubber band.
I recorded some short clips with me trying to do the model stuff for testing, the video quality is a lot better, I am satisfied with the result, the only thing is the IPD of this setup is larger than previous camera, that means it's hard to focus with closer object.
I also made some test under room light situation.
Left side = XT-3, right side = insta360.
Both images were captured with the same distance under room lighting and of course mirrorless camera win easily as the sensor of action cameras is too small to capture good quality image like mirrorless cameras, so I always think that the image quality of 2K videos from mirrorless camera is still better than 4K videos from action camera.
But considering the price and the size of the insta360 camera, it's a very good product.
I'm afraid I can't do 15 clips again for each shooting with the new set up, maybe 8-10 clips is my maximum limit, but the video quality will improve a lot, and also record in Real 4K60p, so do you guys prefer better video quality or more clips like before?
Anyway, it's hard for you to choose now as I have no sample videos for you to compare, just hope I can shoot again soon.

Dang that looks massive, I can definitely count on the video quality shot on these cameras. And I've just got my new Oculus Quest 2 headset. I'm really hoping you to come back soon! Stay safe sir!

I hope so, this corona shit already last too long.

Thanks, it could be perfect only if I can handle this thing smoothly, hope to use it on real shooting soon.

I guess most people want better image quality than more clips? But better image quality also need a pretty girl to work with, which is always a problem for me.

I prefer higher quality with less content.

Thanks, I personally prefer better image quality too :) Just order few magic arms on amazon, hope these will help to steady the cameras, and I believe I can figure out how to speed up and simplify the whole set up before next shooting, so plenty of time…

4K does sound more enticing. Even if you only do the 10 videos that's a lot to choose from. Here's hoping you are able to get the cameras aligned and dialed in more efficiently in the cage. 🙏🏻
