Commission Unveiling
🕑 Added 2023-01-01 14:05:54 +0000 UTCFor a significant part of the fall season I was working hard to finish up an important commission "Peony Garden" 43x67 inches on 3 different panels, one of my biggest garden scenes I've attempted to date. It was a project for a client in Utah through Maxwell Alexander Gallery.
I'll post some follow up images or I can answer some questions if there are any.
Happy New Year to all, wishing you a prosperous 2023 in your art making journey!

Spectacular! Love it!
Wow. Breathtaking. Congratulations on completing this. Your brushwork puts me in mind of Sargent's, esp. the background in Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose. Love how the time of day is captured (June, late evening or very early morning). I hope the owner will lend it when there's a major Klein retrospective.
Thank you for sharing. The time-lapse reference is a cool tip too. I think you did an excellent job of imagining the composition. It’s beautiful, thanks again

Hi Kasmin, yeah the main challenge was the initial painting the client was inspired by was only 12x14 inches, so the brushwork in that piece (observed from life) was hard to emulate larger (from imagination). In the end, I think I was able to accomplish it pretty well but it's slightly different. A lot of this painting was invented from my head, so I was referencing time-lapse videos of peonies opening, learning how they "move", allowing me the information to create the flowers in whatever position I needed them.
Yeah beautiful painting. Whoever commissioned this must be a happy commissioner Lol Truly stunning. Were there any challenges painting the subject larger than life size, or just any other challenges in general?
Wow!!!
Beautiful Painting!! Happy New to everyone!!
