Progress update #4 - August

to start things off, hoping that I could make the next update in just a single month was far too ambitious – and I will need at least until the end of August to wrap things up.
To give you an idea of what to expect, CH1P2 will continue the slower pace of the last episode, focusing on character development, introducing the side story I mentioned in the post last month (a side story that will be reappearing sporadically as the situation in Briarstead develops), and the introduction of a number of characters. Two of these characters will be breaking the monotony of MC and Sunny's isolated life, and so they will be appearing more frequently in the future.
What will not be making an appearance is the storyline intended exclusively for players who made an enemy of Amaya. I wanted to introduce a new character along with this storyline, but I cannot find the room for it with the layout of CH1P2 and CH1P3. It's possible that the character and their story will appear in the future, but we will see.
Also, after a discussion in the discord channel as well as some deliberation on my end, I decided that I will not be implementing the map feature. If you missed it in some of the previous posts, it was meant to be a UI that the player can use to navigate side storylines, i.e. not sandbox, but the ability to access side stories whenever you want. While the feature would have its advantages, I do not think I will ever have enough 'side quests' to justify the additional coding that may potentially result in completely unnecessary game-breaking bugs due to a single typo. I still intend to make an in-game map at some point, though most likely as an interactive lore depository, allowing you to view the entire region and read up on its lore, characters, etc.
No map TL;DR: Everything will stay the same without the map, and all content will be delivered through a continuous, seamless narrative as it had been thus far.
Finally, I want to address the topic of sex content, mostly because you will not find any in the next episode. Introducing sex content so late into the game feels like a double-edged sword, since yes, the game does attract people who are primarily interested in the story, but on the other hand I fear attracting people who may be entirely uninterested in the sex content. So, depending on where you stand, take this as either a warning or a promise, but - while there are steps between MC and Sunny that need to be taken beforehand, the sex content is coming eventually, and there will be no breaks once we are past the barrier of our protagonist's 'youthful inexperience'.

To be honest, I'm glad there won't be a map. With story-driven games, it only breaks the pace of the narrative. Thanks for the update
